Lovely

Greggers2017 · 04/05/2020 14:26

Thank you for all your opinions so far. The babies siblings all have similar kind of names. Normal but not too common if that makes sense.
I've always loved the name Lucy and you don't hear it very often around my area.

Really lovely. Lucy's quite uncommon in this generation, is simple, international, has a lovely meaning. Eleanor is one of my favourite names. They go very well together.

Not understanding all the 'boring' and 'safe' responses Hmm I'd prefer to give my child a name she'll thank me for later rather than a 'unique' one she won't, tbh.

chunkyrun · 04/05/2020 14:31

Pretty vanilla

Mischance · 04/05/2020 14:39

Lovely. Your child will thank you for nice normal names.

Futurenostalgia · 04/05/2020 14:41

It’s nice enough. I prefer Lucy to Eleanor.

Whatsyourflava · 04/05/2020 14:41

Yes the name Lucy is so underused. I love it

Greggers2017 · 04/05/2020 20:47

Thank you. I'm so glad people don't think it's too wet. I love the name Lucy, names all my dolls it as a child

Beautiful name!

Pudding01 · 04/05/2020 20:53

Love the name Lucy. Not too keen on Eleanor, but if it's sentimental to you, it still works.

I'm surprised at seeing all the dull comments, was my top voted girls name on my thread!

Beautiful

Lucy is a gorgeous, classic but simple name and Eleanor is lovely too. I much prefer Eleanor in the mn spot as its not your run of the mill middle name and it avoids her becoming another Ellie like she would if it was a first name

nymrgn · 04/05/2020 20:57

I love it. I prefer Elena but Eleanor is still lovely.

NataliaOsipova · 04/05/2020 20:58

Agree with this. Lucy Eleanor is lovely.

campion · 04/05/2020 21:03

Lovely names. Classic and will never date. I know 3 Lucys and they don't get it shortened.
I agree about Eleanor being a good middle name that won't inevitably become yet another Ellie.

finallychangedmyusername · 04/05/2020 21:26

Both names are lovely, but together they do feel perhaps a little predictable. Ultimately though, I think Lucy Eleanor is a good name.

I'd probably go with using one and then a more uncommon pairing. E.g.

Lucy Eloise
Lucy Elora
Lucy Elvira (love this!)
Lucy Erica

Lara Eleanor
Linnea Eleanor

Lucy Adelaide
Lucy Cordelia
Lucy Adeline (these give me a similar vibe to Eleanor but feel more uncommon to me)

Else Leonora or Leonore could be a sort of mix of the two?

FriedasCarLoad · 04/05/2020 21:28

Beautiful.

Wolfgirrl · 04/05/2020 21:38

I think the clue is that most of the posters have used the word 'nice'... it's kind of prim and plain, nothing wrong with it but it doesnt sparkle in any way, nor is it particularly elegant.

pilates · 04/05/2020 21:56

I’ve seen the word lovely used a lot Wolfgirl

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 04/05/2020 21:59

Grew up in the 90s- class was full of Lucy’s and Eleanors. They are nice names, safe but a little dated in a non classic way

Wolfgirrl · 04/05/2020 22:01

@pilates the word nice has been used 10 times, 12 if you count 'vanilla' and 'okay' as meaning pretty much the same thing.

user1493494961 · 04/05/2020 22:03

I think it's lovely.

AlyMcNabs · 04/05/2020 22:11

I like Lucy.

I don’t like Eleanor sorry

Greggers2017 · 05/05/2020 12:50

Thank you everybody for your opinions.

Eleanor is a name with meaning to us.

Pudding01 · 05/05/2020 16:19

@Greggors2017 then definitely go for it 😊

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/05/2020 16:46

It’s nice but nothing to be excited over, try harder next time

Was there really any need to react so abrasively to a perfectly reasonable question? Hmm

I like it - it's not especially a boat-rocker, but it's pretty.
