My twin girls are nearly two weeks old and I cannot decide on their names! Other half likes Margot & Maeve? Opinions/suggestions please?

I like Margot. Maeve is kind of similar though? I'd go for something different.
Margot and Edith
Margot and Annabel
Margot and Vivienne
Margot and Tabitha

Peachbubble · 30/04/2020 16:02

Love Margot and Maeve.

CeibaTree · 30/04/2020 16:08

Congrats on your daughters OP! Margot and Maeve sound quite nice together, although if I had twins I wouldn't give them the same initial - let them have a bit of individuality in their initials at least!

If I had twin girls tomorrow I'd name them either Hazel and Willow, or Tabitha and Cordelia :)

I love Margot and Maeve. Nothing similar except the first letter, surely? Margot is really shooting up in terms of popularity - it’s just entered the top 100, and is still on a steep climb, so may see a great number of them soon. For this reason, I’ve struck it off my list, but it may not matter so much to you. It’s still the most fantastic name, so strong and sophisticated.

Anappleaday1 · 30/04/2020 16:41

Congratulations! I like both names but would choose different initials for twins. Of the two, I prefer Margot and think it would go with something quite classic:
Margot and Alice
Margot and Clara
Margot and Emmeline
Margot and Alexandra

Do you have any other names you like?

SnowdropFox · 30/04/2020 17:38

Love both those names but personally I would avoid both having the same initials. Could one be a middle name instead?

bridgetreilly · 30/04/2020 17:42

Margot and Maeve is fine. I prefer Maud to Maeve, personally.

Margot and Niamh maybe?

Bubbletrouble43 · 30/04/2020 17:52

I have twin girls and I loved two very similar names that both began with m and were the names of special grandma's on either side, seemed perfect. But as the time approached I suddenly thought I didn't want their names to be too similar as I wanted them to feel like individuals not a double act if you see what I mean. They had the m names as middle names and their first names are pretty different from one another. Having said that, margot and maeve are both beautiful!

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 17:56

LOVE Margot and Maeve. I don't think they're too similar at all. Just have the same first letter
Seen as barely anything is sent by post now let alone in 15 years when they start getting post, I wouldn't factor that in

Other names

Greta, Martha, Willa, Sadie, Delilah, Margaret (Maggie), Edith (Edie), Clementine, Ottilie, Roxanne, Roseanne, Cora, Liberty, Mabel, Ivy, Pearl, Jemima, Cleo, Cora

catinb0oots · 30/04/2020 17:56

Margot and Clara

Bubbletrouble43 · 30/04/2020 18:00

Oh and congratulations! The baby stage may be hectic but mine are 3 now and more fun than I could ever have imagined x

clpsmum · 30/04/2020 18:01

I love Margot and maeve

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 18:08

Margot and Maeve lovely
If you're wanting other M suggestions:
Molly,Millie, Marnie, Maple

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 18:11

And Mabel

But I'd stick with Margot and Maeve- so lovely

Thefaceofboe · 30/04/2020 19:48

Margot and Maeve are 2 of my favourite names Smile

DDemelza · 30/04/2020 19:55

Margot is gorgeous.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 30/04/2020 19:57

I absolutely love the name maeve, no chance of having any more kids but it would be top of my list if I had another girl, I also have Niamh so may be a bit biased towards style 😍
I also like margot, I wouldn't necessarily put the two together as they are a bit matchy. You said your husband likes those names, what do you like?

daisypond · 30/04/2020 20:12

Too similar, both beginning with M. It’s twee. One or the other.

87Callista · 30/04/2020 20:31

Celia and Faith
Lucia and Florence
Clara and Rose
Frankie and Cassie
Jamie and Alex
Susan and Joan
Juliet and Janet
Ruby and Iona

Cbeebiesrehab · 30/04/2020 20:34

Lovely names Smile you’ve said your OH likes them, but do you?

helpmum2003 · 30/04/2020 20:35

They're both lovely names but i wouldn't give them same initials. Maybe use one as a middle name?

I like @Anappleaday1 suggestions

helpmum2003 · 30/04/2020 20:37

You could go for opposite initials?

Margot Alice
Alexandra Maeve

LotusClover · 30/04/2020 20:38

Love Maeve, really dislike Margot. I don't think they're too similar but I agree with @daisypond, they sound a bit twee together.

LadyEloise · 30/04/2020 21:01

Margot is English/French - i think of Margot Fonteyn, the ballerina and Margot in The Good Life
Maeve is Irish - I think of Queen Maeve of Connacht. She was a warrior queen.

123Dancewithme · 30/04/2020 22:38

Margot and Maeve are nice
