Names for my first baby!!

Hello everyone, I am 24 weeks pregnant right now with my first child! My boyfriend and I can't decide on a name. Uncommon or common names work either way. We need names of both genders because we have chosen to wait to find out the gender. Anything would be great!

Norman is due a comeback. I like granddad names like Alan, Gary, Dennis, Michael, Philip, Peter, Winston.

How about Margaret? It got a mixed response of another thread but it was very popular for a long time. I think there was a baby called Beryl in the paper the other day.

Think hard about how the name looks and sounds with the surname. Most people go through life as Firstname Surname. Think about Initial Surname too - As much as you might like Thomas or Tabitha, you may wish to avoid the names if your DC's surname is Watt/Watson/Watkins.

Please ignore the PP suggestion of Windy. Not even if your surname is Miller.

The Firstname Surname suggestion is so that you don't end up calling your DC something that IRL sounds silly.

Think Christopher Dean - most Christophers of that age are Chris but Chris Dean sounds like Christine.

Christopher Bagshaw would end up being Kit Bag.

The initial thing might apply to a nn too. Matilda might become Tilly, and T. Watt might be just a bit much.

Have a think about giving the baby your surname not your boyfriend's, or whether you might wish to get married. You have more legal rights if you are married.
