I keep seeing Margaret being suggested here, but it seems to be one of those marmite names.

What do people think? Due a comeback?

(I'm not thinking of using it myself, just curious.)

Personally I like it.

I've always liked it. I met a little Daisy recently and her dad said it's short for Margaret. I loved that.

I think it's interesting that a lot of people think it's harsh and ugly sounding. I don't think this can be true in any kind of objective sense and think we must all be heavily influenced by what is in fashion at the time.

Margaret was, at one point, the most popular name for a baby girl and was certainly in the top five for quite some time. I don't think that would have been possible if it was objectively ugly. I probably would have said it was ugly myself at one point but then I think I also thought the same about Josephine, which I now think is beautiful. I think Margaret is just currently out of fashion and probably still quite associated with Margaret Thatcher.

I think it's since watching the Crown that the name Margaret has been going round in my head and I've started to think it's actually very elegant. And I love the nickname options.

I really like it, but then I like ‘old-fashioned’ names.
