Honest opinions of this name for a baby girl?

Sorry, I think it is a really ugly name, like Maude. That's just my opinion though, plenty of people seem to like it.

pilates · 28/04/2020 13:36

Not keen at all, sounds frumpy

Cherryboms · 28/04/2020 13:37

It's a gorgeous name. I love it x

imalittlethrowaway · 28/04/2020 13:37

I wasn’t keen but I’ve just been watching a show called Manifest where one of the main characters is called Olive and it’s really grown on me. And had nn is Ollie which I think is super cute!

Bobismyfriend · 28/04/2020 13:43

I love the name. I think of Olive the little girl in "Little Miss Sunshine ". My dog is called Olive because of it but don't know if that helps!!

SleepyBoPeepy · 28/04/2020 13:47

We liked it for a middle name but I hate the taste of olives and it’s not the nicest colour.
I since found out it’s my Grandmother’s middle name though so kind of wish we’d used it!

MrsMonicaBing · 28/04/2020 13:49

My best friends daughter is called Olive :) beautiful name.

wizzywig · 28/04/2020 13:50

On the Buses!!

Mesmeri · 28/04/2020 14:03

I quite like it, but I would be hesitant to use it, I think it would take a strong personality to carry it off... I would not have enjoyed being associated with small, round and green when I was a teenager. Plus, sorry to say this, but what if anyone made horrible innuendo jokes about stuffed olives? I know most people wouldn't, but it could be miserable in the school playground if they did.

LotusClover · 28/04/2020 19:54

I'm not a fan, sorry. It's a vegetable. And the colour olive isn't particularly nice either. It's definitely unique and easy to spell, but not feminine or pretty at all in my opinion. I much prefer Orla and Octavia as alternatives to Olivia.

FruChoc · 29/04/2020 13:51

Lol at kids making jokes about stuffed olive...-isthisthemostmiddleclassthingiveeverread- Really?!?

It's a beautiful name.

Aber9 · 29/04/2020 14:00

Absolutely love it! Hubby didn’t though :(

Makes me think of the girl in Little Miss Sunshine and she’s so cute

Flymetothestars · 29/04/2020 14:04

@FruChoc you’ve just made me laugh out loud. Spot on.
Such a beautiful name! Wish it was my name.

Olive is mainstream enough now that I think it’s as likely as almost any other mainstream name to be the topic of teasing

Orphlids · 29/04/2020 14:54

Olive is a bit of a funny one. I really want to like it, and I sort of do, but I also find it frumpy and ugly as others have said. I think I’d be excited if I met a little Olive, but I wouldn’t name my own child that. When I imagine a young Olive, I picture someone intelligent, artistic, kind, maybe living on a narrow boat... all very positive.

SpratsOnParade · 29/04/2020 14:56

It's ugly and frumpy.

RuthW · 29/04/2020 15:05

I know a baby Olive.

averytiredmom · 29/04/2020 15:06

I think it’s lovely

Peacefrog23 · 29/04/2020 16:24

I like it x

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/04/2020 16:26

One of my favourite names - so wish I’d been able to use it

LozEliza · 29/04/2020 16:50

I don't like it, sorry. I think it's a marmite name.

I love olives (the food) so it has too much of an association with that for me.

Poorlyweasels · 29/04/2020 17:08

Can't bear it. It sounds ugly and it brings to mind a nasty colour and a nasty food. Nothing going for it at all.

Whitegrapeandblackberry · 29/04/2020 17:10

I've got an olivia and we all call her olive it actually really suits her she's been called olive right from birth Xxx

Heartbeeps · 29/04/2020 17:17

I like it. What about Pearl?

BurneyFanny · 29/04/2020 20:15

Blimmin awful is my honest opinion. I know an Olivette who is pretty kickass.
