Honest opinions of this name?

Eilidh is one of my favourite names. If I had another daughter it would definitely be on the list.
But then I'm pretty sure half the posters here wouldn't have the faintest idea how to pronounce it

Ont like it. I'm in england and had never heard it until last year when this guy on my facebook had a baby with a lady who's Irish. Everytime I see it on their newsfeed I cant help but read it how its spelt which i know is wrong. I keep having to Google how to pronounce it.

"The one called Neeve but spelt totally different" Who gives a shite if someone doesn't know how to pronounce a name at first glance? I didn't know how to pronounce Manon, Anais or Sian the first time I saw them. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them.

If you’re anywhere other than Ireland you’ll probably get lots of ‘how is that pronounced?’ which will get irritating both for you and for her when she gets older. I do like it though.

@isabellerossignol please tell me how you pronounce them or it's going to drive me insane trying to figure it out I think my OH thinks I've gone mad just repeating door and poor to myself in as many accents as I can think of.

@Lazydaisydaydream as an example, I’m from NI and door rhymes with roar, whereas poor sounds more like poo-er. If that makes sense...

Such a beautiful Irish name. I would be a bit wary due to the pronunciation issues over here but it shouldn't put you off if you really love it.

If they don't want to make like difficult for their children, yes. It's those with "strange" spelling that are the problem. 60 years of spelling it out is wearing when there are other lovely names out there.
