Ivo + ?

DS is called Ivo, which we see as being an unusual, but known, energetic sounding name. We wouldn't want a sibling to feel short-changed, so would be keen for something that fits this kind of bill. Ideally we want a name that works in French. Names we like but don't necessarily feel 100% right include:

Girls

  • Beatrix (don't like Trixie as a nn)
  • Flora
  • Hermione
  • Anaïs (worried about pronunciation in the UK)

Boys

  • Jasper
  • Caspar
  • Thibault
  • Ludovic
  • Basil (but dislike the nn Baz)

If you know an Ivo, what are his siblings called? Do you have any suggestions for us?

Thanks!

@HeavyDeuty yes we will, not for a little while yet though! Cressida is our front runner for a girl 🙂

Ivo & Ophelia?

I know a real life Ivo (of the German variety) and he named his son Marcus.

The boys list is more French. Hope he doesn't hate us when he's older but he'll speak French so hopefully he'll pull it off in the playground!

This has gone from a hypothetical question to one we're having to think about now.. so any help would be appreciated!

For a girl, we like Flora and Tess(a) and also Hermione and Juno (but don't think I can have another 'o' ending name...)

For a boy, I don't think we have one that we've fallen for yet. Ones I like but can't use are August and Hector. We like Felix but worry about its popularity in contrast to Ivo (I don't want Ivo to feel he's pulled the short straw, or vice versa). I like Ludovic but DH says it's too french, Casper but am I being swept along with a trend? I like Rupert, though I find it a little wet, and still have a slight love for Basil, though I still can't reconcile myself with Baz. I really like Xavier but DH doesn't sadly.

I think I veer towards slightly simpler names. So although I do really like Clementine type names, I'm not sure I picture myself using them. Not sure if Hermione is an exception of if I'm lying to myself about potentially using it!

Feel free to critique what I've got or to offer any new ones!

Thanks!

PinkJellycat · 02/03/2021 07:01

If you like Juno, how about Juniper? I don't know how well that would translate in French.

How about:

Seth
