DP and I are struggling to agree on a name. These are the favourites so far. Which do you prefer?

Also open to any other suggestions Smile

Yes to don't put Pippa on the birth certificate due to its meaning in other languages

Ellmau · 21/04/2020 16:32

Delilah is lovely.

Mummytobe0920 · 21/04/2020 16:54

Thanks for your help!

What do we think about Polly or Hattie?

Harriet, nn Hattie is lovely. Polly is a nice name too

Harrysmum2020 · 21/04/2020 17:14

I am in love with the name delilah

GingerRodgers18 · 21/04/2020 21:52

Betsy’s a shortening, also sounds like a pet as animal name. Love Delilah. Pippa nice too.

Ang3113 · 23/04/2020 07:57

Betsy was our favourite girl name right from the beginning. I love it.

Astronica · 23/04/2020 08:29

I really like Polly. Hattie is okay but prefer Harriet nn Hattie.

Pippa and Polly are my favourites.

Hopefulhen · 23/04/2020 08:44

We are probably going to use Delilah for our baby girl. It has a lot of great nicknames and is pretty on its own.
I don’t particularly care for the biblical perspective on women, so the association with the bible doesn’t worry me. If anything I think it’s slightly subversive to use it.

Infused · 23/04/2020 09:10

Delilah is awful, it's a really harsh sounding name.

Betsy is quite twee

Pippa is the nicest by far

toughgetsgoing · 23/04/2020 12:10

delilah but beware of the shortening Dilly
pippa has to be philippa imo
dislike betsy - not strong, also nicknamey, and seems weak

MikeUniformMike · 23/04/2020 18:01

I think that Betsy sounds quite gutsy and sassy. In the same way as Nancy is,

Inconnu · 23/04/2020 18:04

In order with my favourite first:
Pippa
Polly
Betsy
Hattie
Delilah

KnobwithaK · 23/04/2020 18:22

I really like Betsy but would definitely use Elizabeth/Elisabeth on the birth certificate.

(NB, that's my personal preference only, I don't think you'll harm her future career prospects if you don't Smile)

RoseMartha · 23/04/2020 18:28

Not keen on any sorry

daisypond · 23/04/2020 19:45

I like Pippa but would use Philippa formally. Similarly Elizabeth for Betsy. Not keen on Delilah - it’s the biblical connotations. Polly is nice. Hattie only if short for Harriet.

Imactually13 · 23/04/2020 20:52

Maybe name her piper instead of pippa, pippa sounds like a weird name

terrigrey · 25/04/2020 00:28

Jessie? (Short for a Jessica if you want a more formal name on birth certificate)
Bunny is my favourite name of all time, and Kit for a boy.

HedgeHogFoxBadger · 25/04/2020 21:58

I have a 5yr old Delilah, I love it!
