Benjamin or Rupert?

I love both names so much but loved Rupert first! Thought I’d see what others think. I feel like Rupert is more unusual but still traditional... also I don’t really like the idea of Benjamin being shortened to Ben which it inevitably will be but I like Benjy!

I like both but would go for Rupert. You can’t go wrong with Benjamin but Rupert has more style. You could consider Benedict too.

Hileni · 19/04/2020 07:30

In love with the name Rupert 😍

msatlantis · 19/04/2020 08:59

I love Rupert. I know one and he goes by Ru. Was on our shortlist. Benjamin fine but maybe a bit boring.

Roundncircles · 19/04/2020 10:13

My son is called Rupert. I was so nervous about it as I thought it was so out there, and to be honest I still am. It was my husbands favourite name so we went with it. I still find myself getting used to it, so it's nice to read nice comments on here about the name x

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/04/2020 10:16

I love Rupert. Hate Rupe or Rupes though, but Roo is sweet.

Whatsyourflava · 19/04/2020 10:17

@Roundncircles Rupert is gorgeous - one of my favs. Definitely not “out there” at all especially these days! I know two babies called Fox and one called Wolf

Whatsyourflava · 19/04/2020 10:17

Ps. Love Benjamin and Rupert equally

RedandBluebox · 19/04/2020 10:19

I find them both really wet

foreverblessedbee · 19/04/2020 10:19

Who cares about cool??! I say go wih what you love! I know 2 Ruperts. ( although one is a dog) It's a fabulous name.

Roundncircles · 19/04/2020 10:21

@whatsyourflava honestly, thank you, that's really lovely to hear x

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/04/2020 10:23

although one is a dog Grin

Tbh with the current trend to give dogs human names I don’t think there is any single human name not used on a dog. Two of my dc have names particularly used by dogs apparently.

Neveranynamesleft · 19/04/2020 10:26

Rupert the Bear. Your child will not thank you for that when he gets older.

Ellmau · 19/04/2020 11:32

I love Rupert.

Benjamin's a perfectly good name, but a bit bland imo.

NotNowPlzz · 19/04/2020 21:23

I ADORE Rupert. And what's wrong with Rupert the Bear anyway?

Neveranynamesleft · 19/04/2020 22:27

I'm sure that most people, old enough to remember maybe, would say Rupert the Bear is lovely.. Children could possibly give a child with the name Rupert the nickname Bear. Who knows. Personally, I would not name my child Rupert. I would name my dog Rupert though Smile

Whatsyourflava · 19/04/2020 22:56

By the way I really like Casper too @Chinchinn - sorry probably not helpful that I like all your name suggestions but I do!

Cindie943811A · 19/04/2020 23:03

I love Rupert.
Is Rupert bear still a thing? Nothing objectionable about it, anyway.
There is always someone or something associated with a name.
Ben is such an ordinary name.

123Dancewithme · 20/04/2020 00:46

Rupert or Caspar. Ben is just boring.

MrsBungle · 20/04/2020 00:59

Caspar is lovely! Call him that.
