I thought boy and it was actually going to be my boys name (if I ever have one) but google says it’s a girls name

Could be either

It's the first part of Giovanni or Giovanna...so could be for either a boy or a girl.

Like Joe / Jo.

I think I’d assume Gio would be male. Gia sounds more feminine
