Just throwing this one out there, what do you think of Pip for a boy? (Not Phillip)

I quite like it but would Prob go with a Philip Phillipa name so they have a choice. My friend is pip. I have never thought of it as odd, but she is Phillipa officially

I think people make a lot more of the ‘weirdness’ of names when they’re just an abstract name, but if you actually meet someone with the name it just seems normal... I know a Pip, have known him since I was little (friends dad) and it really never struck me as any different to any other name.

I have a 2 week old little girl named Pippa and we will call her Pip for short. It's nice for a boy too but I think it's a bit short to be a name all by itself.

I have a Pip. Debated over whether to put full name on BC as Pip, Pippa or Philippa- really glad I went with the latter. Gives her flexibility when she's older.

I would say every single time, almost without fail, I say her name is 'Pip/Pippa' I get asked what it's short for.

VenusClapTrap · 06/04/2020 18:34

I know two. One is short for Philippa, the other Piper.

TwilightPeace · 06/04/2020 18:36

Why would you call your child Pip? Give them a real name.

strawberry2017 · 06/04/2020 18:46

As a nickname - yes
As a full name - no
