My father is Andrew, hoped to use Drew after him. What do you all think?

Are there any other variations that may be suitable? Thanks x

I would use Andrew itself.
Perfectly nice and pleasant sounding name.

Andrew is nice. Some friends have a teenage Andrew - it seemed a bit old when he was little but it seems so nice now.

I like Andy too - Andy Murray.

Drew makes be think of blood or Barrymore.

Andreas is quite acceptable and a bit more unusual, and is used in Europe. Andre is french.

I like Drew, it's quite Scottish (usually shortened from andrew).

It’s nice and more modern than Andrew who would probably be one Andy.

If my daughter had been a boy then we were going to use Drew as the middle name after my dad

I like Drew! Lovely!

Anders as another possibility?

I like Andrew. Can be Andy/Drew as he gets older - whatever suits him when born

bridgetreilly · 04/04/2020 23:26

Unless your father is always known as Drew, call your son your father's actual name.

I like both Andrew and Drew as the full names. Though I prefer Andrew with nn Drew, I do think Drew on its own is a fine way to acknowledge an Andrew.

I like Andrew but don't want to use the full name on DS. I wanted an alternative as a more modern acknowledgement to my father rather than using using his first name in full. I can't imagine Andrew on a baby or small boy, personally but I do love it for an adult. I thought Drew may have been the best alternative
