Middle name for Violet

I quite like Violet - and I know it's gotten popular, but i have a soft spot for it. So what middle name?

Violet Mirielle- I used to like this combination but I feel like I'm having a change of heart

Violet Liviana - I think this is pretty but I don't like how Liviana means envious. Kinda puts me off.

Any suggestions of uncommon middle names that go with Violet and make it feel less common but still classic and pretty?

Love the idea of violet martine after your dad. For one of my daughters, my dad suggested alana Michaela, both names after him, I'll let you figure out what his name is!! 😂

Cute! My husband is Alan so I also considered Violet Alana! We will see I guess. I keep changing my mind!

I like Violet Celeste. I also really like Violet Olivia but I worry it's way unoriginal.

I also thought about Violet Genoa or Violet Capri - place names, or too cheesy? I'm wanting something original but feminine.

Violet Genoa is lovely :)

OVienna · 29/03/2020 18:33

Violet Lavinia - been watching Downton Abbey, have you? ;)

I love the name Violet though. Violet Mary?

Martine is French and doesn't sound masculine at all imo. If you wanted a variation what about Martina?

I think Grace works well with Violet

s3tut0y3r · 29/03/2020 19:50

Or Elizaberh which is rarer these days and very oretty

I think we may have decided on Violet Alodia. It's the Greek version of Elodie and originates from a saint name. I think it is really pretty but definitely not cookie cutter. So I think this may be the final choice although I loved so many options!

Hi OP,

We are using Violet Everly if this one is a girl, great choice 😁

MikeUniformMike · 30/03/2020 08:55

Florence.
You could combine the 1st and 2nd name to form Violence.

Whatsyourflava · 30/03/2020 08:57

Love Violet
Not so keen on Alodia , sounds like pasta dressing Alolio (spelling?) to me

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 30/03/2020 20:23

Awe I'm loving Alodia. It's kind of a tribute to my husband and his father who are Alan and Albert and I am finding it very pretty, kinda like Melody - but I've never liked the Mel part of Melody or Melodia (also Melodia sounds like Melania which I really wouldn't use due to the first lady of the states comments I'd have to deal with). My other daughter middle name is Amelie so I also feel they go together.

I like Everly a lot but I worry its sounds too similar to Amelie with the lee ending. I did come across Evodie which I also like as well. Apparently I'm really into Greek names right now! I also considered Athena and Calista.

I still also like Genoa too, which is the city in which we were married (Genoa, Nevada, US not Genoa, Italy although we are both Italian descent so that would actually have a special meaning for both reasons!)

I also love Martine to honor my late father but i worry he may not actually like his name being changed into a girl's name - or maybe he would adore It. I just dont know! My brother used his name for his son already as well.

Violet Fern
Violet Skye
Violet Belle

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2020 02:14

Mike you have just made me snort Grin

Anyway, back to the names. Personally, I would pair Violet with something short, simple and classic, like Jane, Mary, Louise, that sort of thing - but it's clear OP's taste is frillier than mine.

That said, Violet Alodia is actually nice. Though I do prefer Violet Elodie.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 31/03/2020 03:19

I know. I do have kinda frilly taste at times...and yes Mike is hilarious! Although Violence is definitely not something I want to bring into this world! Haha. And as much as I like Italy place names, Florence never really was one I was find of. Although Florentine is better but still not really one I'd use!!

Thank you. I'm pretty sure we will do Violet Alodia or Violet Genoa.

Oh! sorry. The names offered are lovely but as soon as I saw this I wanted to shout - Violet Elisabeth - but then she might want to "skweem and skeem" if she didn't get her way. Sorry just love those William books.
