Help! No name :(

Baby boy is due in 3 weeks and we don't have a name for him, not even any potentials.

We had one that we absolutely loved, but can no longer call him that and now nothing else feels right.

We want something short, unusual, and love nature inspired names if anyone can think of any suggestions?

Thank you Grin

Birk (birch in Danish)

Straysocks · 16/03/2020 14:01

I really like Cove too, brings to mind explorers and stormy seas. No doubt you'll find some hilarious types with a comment. Name is lovely but will it bother you responding to numpties?

Bezalelle · 16/03/2020 14:01

Like Berk??

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 14:18

Thank you MrsP2015, cbeebiesrehab and straysocks, I really love the name, and it feels like that's his name already, so you're definitely making me feel better about it.

Straysocks it wouldn't upset me for my sake, but I wouldn't want to feel like I'd done him a disservice if you get what I mean (cue everyone commenting to say I would be doing so haha)

Thank you theoriginalmadambee!

You're welcome! If it helps, I know a couple who had a baby Cove last week. Nobody batted an eyelid other than to say what a nice name it is.

Honestly, I don't think people would make the connection. And this time next year you don't want to regret not calling him that due to something that will (hopefully) be yesterday's news.

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 14:53

That does help blursula! Thank you.

I might be brave and go for it then!

Cove is a lovely name. What about Echo?

user1493494961 · 16/03/2020 15:43

I would immediately think of the virus.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 16/03/2020 15:50

I like Cove and I wouldn't think of the virus at all, I think you should go with Cove Smile

Sojo88 · 16/03/2020 20:34

I wouldn't associate Cove with Covid - especially once this is all over!

I think it's a lovely name and you should definitely go for it if your heart is set on it.

Gemma2019 · 16/03/2020 20:37

I wouldn't associate Cove with Covid 19 in a million years

Marlena1 · 16/03/2020 20:46

I'm another who thinks Cove is fine (I thought you were going to say Covid which wouldn't be!) If you are afraid, Kobe is another option

zombieapocalypseisnigh · 16/03/2020 20:50

Oakan
Oakley
Leif
River

I wouldn't use Cove, tbh. It's just too untimely.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 16/03/2020 22:04

Ita not to my taste at all but I dont think people would make the connection.

If Cove is what u love - go for it

Whatsyourflava · 16/03/2020 22:14

I think people would definitely make the connection and given how many people are so sick I really wouldn’t want any link to this crisis whatsoever. I’d feel awkward whenever I told anyone the name and if someone close to me ends up getting seriously ill from this virus I’d just hate that I’d given my son this name

That’s just me though and plenty of people here have said they wouldn’t even make a connection

How about

Clive?
Clarence?
Cole?

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 22:20

Thank you for your input everyone.

I'll see what the next few weeks brings and see what other options we can come up with and have another read through all of the ones mentioned here Smile

Woolf
Ace
Clove
Archer
Bear

Standrewsschool · 16/03/2020 23:29

I think it would be fine as long as your sirname doesn’t begin with D, Ed, Id etc ( Cove-D.., Cove-Ed...).

Cole
Kove
Kobe

BreakfastAtTiffany · 16/03/2020 23:30

Unless your surname is Idnineteen, Cove is fine to use. It’s nice!

missmouse101 · 17/03/2020 07:05

Bay, Storm, Heath, Ash, Sol, Lyndon.

IckleBear · 18/03/2020 20:53

Silas :)

s3tut0y3r · 21/03/2020 22:49

Rowan is lovely

GattinaGattona · 26/03/2020 06:31

Cove is lovely, would not associate it with the virus at all. Plus his name is forever, this pandemic is current and won’t be at the front our minds forever. Other nature names:

Rowan
River
Kestrel
Oakley
Bear
Cole
Jet
Gray
Haze
Leif
Wade
Falco
Barkley

Flymetothestars · 26/03/2020 15:17

Let us know what you pick!!
How about Cole or Chester or Bodhi or Rudy or Otto?

S3z.... i always think of Rowan as more of a girl name (which it is in Scotland and America so only a matter of time before it is here)

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 28/03/2020 15:35

I've never heard Cove. It's not bad. This time period will pass - I dont think Covid-19 will forever be a thing.

I like Wilder better - spelled like this though.
What about:

River - nn Riv
Rio
Cypress
Sequoia
Briar
Brook
(Trying to think of masculine nature names here)

Corbin
Kevin
Corey
Cole
Christopher- nn Kit
Craig
Collin
Carter
Cormac
