Monty as boys name

We both like Monty as a name for our little boy - and think would actually call him Montgomery as use Monty as nickname (thoughts?).

BUT our main quandary is that our surname is Byrne. We are concerned about the association with Mr Burns in the Simpsons..... do people think Monty Byrne is too closely associated with Mr Burns and so a no go??

Thanks x

I would think Monty Burns, unfortunately.

I thought of Mr Burns even before I saw your surname. :/

I hate The Simpsons but love Montgomery as a name.
Truly outstanding

Thanks .... thought so, but wanted to check!

Err, back to the lists!

Poor boy is already two weeks old and still no name!

Diggory?

Sounds same at the end.

Ry sound at the end

Monty is a dog's name imo - sorry!

What about Rupert, Bertie or Oscar?

MerryDeath · 12/03/2020 19:41

such a dogs name and not even very imaginative at that.

Whatsyourflava · 12/03/2020 20:19

What another names are you considering? How about Barnaby (Barney). Has a similar feel to Monty to me and I love it.

WellTidy · 12/03/2020 20:27

I would think Monty Don. Which isn’t a bad thing, I like Monty Don.

I would also think Monty Don (I've never watched the Simpson's). Nice name.

emmathedilemma · 13/03/2020 07:16

I don't know the simpsons well enough for it to be a connection. I like it, it's cute and Monty Don has done ok with it. However, it is my "dog name" for when I eventually get one!
