Friso (name) for a boy.. what do you think?

What do you think of the name Friso for a boy? It’s a Dutch name, we are from the Netherlands and we are living now in America (for at least a few years). What is your association if you hear the name? Do you think you could pronounce the name easily? The other name we consider is Magnus.. just because it’s easier for American people. Thanks for your advice.

I came on to mention the Dutch prince's name I think it's a lovely name, OP.

Is it pronounced Free-so?
I think that the crisp association is because of the American brand FritoLay but that's not a problem in the UK.
I think it's fine as a name :)

I don't like the name much in Dutch and I don't think it works well in English. You will be forever correcting it to Free-so like in Frisian, not Fry-so

If you are from the Netherlands and want to use a Dutch name, then use it; Americans will just have to get used to it.

But I just think of Johan-Friso.
Americans won’t bat their eyelids at it and it’s nicer than Magnus.

Nothing wrong with Friso, just that most U.K. ppl won't be familiar with it. If you met a baby called it you wouldn't think twice after going hmm that's unusual.

I think both are fine; I can't see any justifiable negative associations. Go for it.

I like both. Magnus is more recognisable in English but Friso is interesting and simple enough to say and spell. And it’s a name from your country, go for it if it’s your favourite.
