I’m still early on in my pregnancy but I’m loving the name Aliona if the baby is a girl at the moment (we won’t be finding out the gender). What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bezalelle · 01/03/2020 11:55

Hmm. Not sure. Sounds like a mash up of Alina and Leona.

bluemoon2468 · 01/03/2020 11:56

Love this name, DH vetoed (too Strictly/european)

RuthW · 01/03/2020 11:56

Lovely but I love all names ending in Ona

abbidabbi · 01/03/2020 11:57

It reminds me of aioli, garlic mayo, sorry Blush

NorthEndGal · 01/03/2020 11:59

How do you pronounce it?

TheYearOfTheDog · 01/03/2020 12:01

it almost sounds like a mash up of mal aliento as well. Not quite. But i looked at it and thought of bad breath for some reason.

I like Fiona or Leona though.

daisypond · 01/03/2020 12:02

I like it. I know one. She’s Russian.

SapphosRock · 01/03/2020 12:03

I prefer Ilona which is a lovely name

Rachel246 · 01/03/2020 12:03

I like it. Pronounced as it's written, Al ee ona.

Longdistance · 01/03/2020 12:03

It reminded me of garlic mayonnaise.

What about Ilona? My Hungarian aunt was Ilona. Pronounced Ee’lon’ah.

daisypond · 01/03/2020 12:04

It’s a form of Helena.

Rachel246 · 01/03/2020 12:07

The garlic mayonnaise is pronounced completely differently Ay olli.

bluemoon2468 · 01/03/2020 12:11

The garlic mayo is pronounced ay-oh-li and the name is pronounced a-lee-oh-na... they're not even that similar 🙈

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/03/2020 12:13

Love it. I used to work with one, who was lovely.

scrivette · 01/03/2020 12:13

It's quite pretty.

I prefer Eliana (Elly arna) which is similar.

Undecided91 · 01/03/2020 12:19

Prefer Helena or Elena, more classy.

emmathedilemma · 01/03/2020 15:04
