Sister to Ariadne. Please say what you like/don’t like about them too if you can.

Thank you!

Hermione is perfect! It’s SO perfect with Ariadne. It’s so perfect that I’m really over invested in this thread and feel like I NEED you to call her Hermione! Grin

Poorolddaddypig · 01/03/2020 05:22

I agree Honor sounds a bit dull and weak compared to Ariadne. And I know you won’t alwahs say their names together, but when you say ‘Ariadne and Honor’ it sort of blends into ‘Ariadne andonner’ and I don’t like that either

PlantPotting · 01/03/2020 09:02

If you’re looking for other suggestions how about

Roxanne/Roxanna/Rosanne (nn Roxy)
Coralie
Clementine (nn Clemmie)
Margaret (nn Maggie)

TheYearOfTheDog · 01/03/2020 09:05

Honor is lovely.
Hermione sounds a bit ridiculous to me.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/03/2020 09:05

Thalia?

Batqueen · 01/03/2020 09:08

Love Theodora from your second list!

userabcname · 01/03/2020 09:11

I love Hermione! Persephone? Both are on my shortlist if I ever have a girl, along with Celeste.

autumnkate · 01/03/2020 09:15

I really love Honor- I think it’s really classy and cool. Hermione is too frilly for me

TheJoxter · 01/03/2020 09:15

I think Harry Potter is still popular enough that people will always think of it when you say Hermione, I love Honor/Honour and Paloma and also Hero as a PP suggested

123Dancewithme · 02/03/2020 22:39

Hermione goes much better with Ariadne. Honor seems a bit plain next to it.

MikeUniformMike · 03/03/2020 22:30

Honor.

Hermione is too HP.

How about Diana?

Poorolddaddypig · 04/03/2020 08:06

Just popping up again to defend Hermione because as I said... overinvested! Hermione IS pretty Harry Potter but the character is awesome - brave, intelligent, fearless, loyal. Why wouldn't you want that association with your daughter? I considered Hermione for my daughter BECAUSE of the character, not in spite of it!

emmathedilemma · 04/03/2020 08:32

Pandora?

Whatsyourflava · 04/03/2020 08:50

Did you make a decision @Mallory29

I definitely prefer Honor - SO much nicer ❤️

CaffiSaliMali · 04/03/2020 09:27

I prefer Hermione. Mainly because Honor feels quite plain to be me after Ariadne. I would also worry about the 'on her' jokes.

Honoria and Ariadne would go well together.

Mallory29 · 04/03/2020 16:29

Haven’t made a decision no! 🙈

I’m not sure either of these is the one. Really liking Xanthe the more I think about it. And I love pretty, a bit princessy but strong names like Cosima and Paloma too, which I think probably “match” Ariadne best, if that’s even a thing? I just don’t want either of them to feel short-changed.

We still have a couple of month to decide.

I like Hermione but the HP link would deter me, I just wouldn’t want them to grow up with ‘oh like in Harry Potter’ forever.

Not keen on Honor, just find it a bit antiquated and ‘frumpy’ iykwim.

Lllot5 · 04/03/2020 16:42

I like Hermione but maybe too much linked with Harry Potter.
I like Honour with the u I prefer that spelling. But I love Clementine.

Lllot5 · 04/03/2020 16:42

Oh and Ariadne is fab btw.

singswithitsfingers · 04/03/2020 16:47

Xanthe lovely but your daughter would always have to spell it, so would be annoying. I love the suggestions of Athena and Artemis above.

autumnkate · 04/03/2020 16:56

Cosima is great. Nice nickname potential too

grizzlysky · 04/03/2020 17:00

xanthe is beautiful

lenalove · 04/03/2020 17:10

Much prefer Honor, quite an unusual name, and pretty without being overly "fluffy". Also like Thalia as someone else suggested above...
