I’ve name changed for this as I intend to give my surname out and therefore don’t want it linked to any other posts.

Baby girl was born 3 weeks ago and me and DH cannot agree on a name.

We both want something “normal” so no apples or Otillies.

We both like but can’t have Amelia
I like Bella, Lola, Phoebe, but DH has said no.
DH likes Isabella, Chloe but I’m not keen.

Our surname is Side and we have a son already, so the name has to go with that as well.

Please help, I’m getting really stressed about this!

I like Cora and Cleo

daisypond · 29/02/2020 07:08

Bellina.
Penelope.
Annabel/Annabella.

florababy84 · 29/02/2020 08:00

Annabelle Side

Fozzleyplum · 29/02/2020 08:13

I may be overthinking this, but some shorter names ending in an a or i sound, could sound like a crime. For example Anna Side/homicide. S can also combine awkwardly with some preceding consonants. I think you avoid both issues with a longer name, ending in a vowel, as pps have suggested.

pumpkinpie01 · 29/02/2020 08:17

I think a longer name works well with a short surname. I can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned but I think Bethany Side sounds lovely and could go well with your sons name too ?

missmouse101 · 29/02/2020 08:29

Chloe Side is perfectly fine OP. Beautiful in fact. I was going to suggest Holly.

timeforanewjob · 29/02/2020 08:58

I think the e or y ending works well with Side. Possibly 3 syllables better than 2.

So Chloe, Amy, Holly, Molly, Emily, Melanie, Natalie, Stephanie (if you like alliterative names ) Valerie, Kimberley, Verity, Naomi, Clemency

Twisique · 29/02/2020 09:19

Elodie Elizabeth Side

diddlediddle · 29/02/2020 09:23

I think you're over thinking it. Chloe Side sounds perfectly nice, and Molly would go fine with the type of name your son has.

Also the suggestions of Isabella nn Bella are good - you'd both get what you want and your DH sounds like he is being pretty unreasonably difficult by saying he would shorten to Izzy!

lmcneil003 · 29/02/2020 09:27

The name Sandi/Sandy will be the most in vogue name mid decade. Get ahead of the curve and use it now!

Babynameusername · 29/02/2020 09:53

There are a lot of names here which I like but we can’t have because of other family members for example Holly, Bethany, Emily.

I do really like Amelia but there is a half sibling called Emily and I read a post on here where everyone said Emily and Amelia are too similar.

Whilst I quite like Sandy, I really don’t think Sandy Side works.

To the person who said about the homicide and the e/y ending I think you’re right. I think that’s my actual issue with Isabella, I don’t think Isabella Side works. It would need to be Isobel Side which is even more likely to be shortened to Izzy rather than Bella. But still Bella Side or even Belle Side just doesn’t work.

Juliet
Eleanor
Elizabeth
Harriet
Madeleine
Clara
Genevieve

daisypond · 29/02/2020 10:04

Go for something that ends in a consonant sound. No Y or IE or A ending.
Vivien.
Marianne.
Charlotte.
Caroline.
Juliet.
Rachel.

pinkyredrose · 29/02/2020 10:13

You can give her a different surname? Side is a pretty awkward name, what made you decide to use it?

daisypond · 29/02/2020 10:16

Because that’s their name. Are they supposed to give their child a random surname?

HalfBloodPrincess · 29/02/2020 10:18

Millicent
Elizabeth
Felicity
Annabel

Babynameusername · 29/02/2020 10:51

@pinkyredrose that’s a really random reply, it’s our family name. What other name do you suggest?

OP posts:
RickOShay · 29/02/2020 11:03

Charlotte is a good suggestion.
Lottie is a nice nickname.

BadCatDirtyCat · 29/02/2020 12:23

Three or four syllables sounds good with Side I think.

Elizabeth Side
Imogen Side
Felicity Side
Sophia Side
Eleanor Side

This is just such a weird comment. You can't imagine why they'd give their child the family surname?

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 13:48

Chloe is a lovely name
Chloe slide is great

Amelia and Emily aren’t too similar for half siblings i don’t think. Particularly not if there’s a bit of an age gap so they’re not likely to have same friends

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 13:48

Imogen Slide is also really noce

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 13:48

*nice

user1493494961 · 29/02/2020 14:15

I know siblings called Amelia and Emily.

MikeUniformMike · 29/02/2020 14:24

Think hard about how Firstname Surname looks like and sounds.
You might want to avoid Tyne, Mersey, River, Brooke etc
