Hi,
I’m due mid March and am still very unsure on names- do not know the gender so trying to decide on both a boys name and a girl’s name!Confused will put both current shortlists below, looking for opinions, favourites and possibly other suggestions?! Thankyou Flowers

Girls: Aria, Mia, Everly, Poppy, Hattie (Harriet) , winter
(Middle name will most likely be Isobel)

Boys: Theo, Obie (obidiah),Freddie, Jago, Teddy/ Ted (Edward), Arlo, Otis, Milo
(Ideally middle name will be Christopher)

As you can see I’ve got lots of ideas and haven’t really narrowed it down- please help! Thankyou xx

Winter and Jago.

Grufallosfriends · 24/02/2020 07:03

Aria and Otis

I don't like Winter at all, especially not for a girl. So cold and harsh.

MikeUniformMike · 24/02/2020 09:13

Girls:
Aria, - no
Mia, - nice but overused
Everly, - dreadful, like Beverley without the B
Poppy, - nice but some don't like
Hattie (Harriet) , - nice
winter - no. Winter is bleak and miserable.
(Middle name will most likely be Isobel)

Boys:
Theo, - overused
Obie (obidiah), - It is Obadiah. Obi Wan Kenobi
Freddie, - not keen on Fred
Jago, - not keen
Teddy/ Ted (Edward), - prefer Eddie
Arlo, - no
Otis, - no
Milo - no
(Ideally middle name will be Christopher)

I think winter is a gorgeous name @Needaholiday00 and really not that unusual anymore. I wouldn’t care what month a baby was born, I’d still have Winter on my shortlist.
There was a thread on the name “Winter” here recently and the name received predominantly positive responses (rare for mumsnet)

158 baby girls were named Winter in 2018 (that’s the most recent year we have statistics for) and as it’s increasing there’ll be over 200 babies in 2020 I’m sure - it’s not “out there” anymore

Nowayorhighway · 24/02/2020 16:55

Harriet and Edward.

20viona · 24/02/2020 16:56

Everly and Arlo for me out of those

CaffiSaliMali · 24/02/2020 18:00

I like Harriet, Aria and Mia the most. Not sure I'd pair Mia with Isobel though - 'me is a bell'.

I like Edward and Jago the most for boys. I know a little Jago (Cornish parent) and it works really well with a long middle name like Christopher.

I like Theo and Freddie too but would use Theodore and Frederick and they're a bit of a mouthful with Christoper.

123Dancewithme · 25/02/2020 22:40

Harriet and Jago

steppemum · 25/02/2020 22:46

I do think Winter is pretty, but she will be a spring baby, and so I think it doesn't quite work.

Not a fan of Harriet, but I like Hattie a lot

Mia - please don't. It is a pretty name, but you can't move for tripping over Mia's roudn here, so over used.

Everly is pretty, but makes me think of the Everly brothers, so it feels like a boys name for me.
Everlyn is lovely.

I love Jago and Theo. They are my favourites from your list.
Don't like Otis or Arlo

CanNotSeeTheWoodForTheTrees · 25/02/2020 22:55

Arlo is SO over done and conjures up the 'naughty child's vibe.

Love Winter for a girl.

How about Franklin in Frankie / Frank

Staffori · 26/02/2020 11:38

Hattie and Milo.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/02/2020 14:03

Aria - I know a few but I always think it sounds a bit downmarket sorry
Mia - beautiful. I only know of ne little Mia
Everley - meh
Poppy - it's OK but I wouldn't want to be an adult called Poppy
Hattie (Harriet) - lovely
Winter - nice
(Middle name will most likely be Isobel) - Isobel is lovely

From your boys list I only like Otis and could maybe get behind Milo at a push
Live Christopher though

FizzyGreenWater · 28/02/2020 16:39

Winter isn't too unusual, but it is a bit fashiony. It comes up on here all the time at the moment. I wouldn't, I think it will date and end up sounding a bit naff.

Harriet nn Hattie, and Jago would be my choices!

Cinammoncake · 01/03/2020 22:34

Harriet and Otis or Edward

whattodo2019 · 01/03/2020 22:44

We have a Winter at our school

OnABeachSomewhere · 02/03/2020 07:28

I like these best:

Harriet Isobel
Poppy Isobel

Theo Christopher

Suggestions:

Phoebe, Lucy, Caroline, Naomi, Robyn

Wilbur, Henry, Aidan, Daniel, George

Mish85 · 02/03/2020 08:57

Favourites are Hattie, Everly, Otis and Freddie.

user1493494961 · 02/03/2020 09:58

Really dislike Winter, like Harriet, Poppy, Theo, Jago and Edward.

Whatsyourflava · 02/03/2020 10:01

Have you made a decision @Needaholiday00 x

averythinline · 02/03/2020 10:06

Not so keen on Winter, Harriet favourite girls of your list...
although they are all ok
boys list is great! you could use Theodore then you have the option of Theo or Ted/Teddy although also quite like Edward .. not so keen on Freddie /Otis as know a couple of not nice ones!

sibbys · 03/03/2020 16:45

Teddy is cool

Poppy is lovely

CeibaTree · 03/03/2020 20:45

Oberon would be a better name if you want to use the nickname Obie.
From your list I like Winter and Jago the best :)

ArriveBy9 · 05/03/2020 19:19

Otis for a boy! I wanted that, but was over-ruled!
I like Winter too.

Thripp · 05/03/2020 19:22

Harriet and Obadiah (though Oberon is also good). I could possibly be persuaded by Jago.

I detest Winter (as in the season), so couldn't bring myself to call a child by the same name. The other girls' names are all very 2020, so would date.

notalwaysalondoner · 06/03/2020 15:59

Aria - think this will be name that really marks you as being born around Game of Thrones’ peak and dies in popularity quickly. I like the sound, but don’t think it will stand the test of time.
Mia - ok, quite popular
Everly - I always associate this as a very American name, but it does sound pretty. Not a fan personally.
Poppy - ok, not too common but not unusual either. Probably my second favourite.
Hattie - love it, my favourite. Cute for a child and also has a grown up long name if she wants it.
Winter - I’m a sun worshipper and the word makes me feel cold so not the implication I’d want for a child.

Boys: Theo - love it
Obie (obidiah) - never come across it before, like the shortening a lot but the full name is a beast
Freddie - love it
Jago - I have a little cousin called this and am not a big fan but it’s ok.
Teddy/ Ted (Edward) - love Teddy, Ted is a bit too solid and old man for me
Arlo - not a fan, a bit new and trendy for me, and again, I interpret it as a fad from America
Otis - ok
Milo - like it
