Name change

Has anybody or would anybody change their babies name at 3 months old? I'm really regretting my daughter's name, I have mentioned it to my partner a couple of time, he's not impressed that I want to change it but will if it's really bothering me. Am I being ridiculous? I do feel I will be happier if we change it or should o just suck it up and regret it in silence?

I personally hadn’t even realised what it spelt backwards but also think it doesn’t matter what everyone here thinks, if it’s really bothering you I would bring it up with your husband again. I know it seems a bit odd but I would probably start calling her Charlotte if that’s what you agree and then change after a few weeks, saves you changing it then using it and regretting it.

There are loads of Naomis... why would they get bullied? I have no idea what anyone's name is backwards. I also know two adult Naomis and both are known as their full name, not Nay or Omi.

I'm not sure what your concern is about Naomi not being English. As others have said Naomi is Hebrew in origin (from a brilliant Bible story fwiw) but seems to be common enough in the UK. I slightly prefer it to Charlotte but they're both lovely names. The Naomi's I've known haven't gone by shortened versions. As others have said you can't control nicknames but I would be surprised if a Naomi became 'Omi', it doesn't seem inevitable.

Change it!

It's easy before a year. Nobody will think it odd.

I'd add Charlotte as the first name and just budge the others along (does she have a current middle name?)

Charlotte Naomi is lovely. I do like Naomi but more written down than said - I prefer Charlotte (love Lottie).

Naomi is probably my least favorite name ever....

Lottie one of my favs.

If you are having reservations now... change it!! In a few years no one will remember she was naomi... but you will still remember how you wished you had changed it!!

I would be more worried that when she is older she would regret you changing it from one to the other?! Maybe you could add Charlotte in as a middle name and then call her Charlotte, still giving her the option to pick Naomi when she is older if she prefers it?

Naomi is lovely. Charlotte is so boring, a ten a penny name. Naomi is just beautiful.
