So I posted this yesterday under “what else might I like” but I’ve realised I like these enough to not really want to look elsewhere. It might be a case of waiting until she’s born and seeing what fits. But opinions on these please !

Alexandra- this is one I haven’t budged on since I was in my late teens. I love Alex and also Andi as nicknames.
Anastasia nn Ana which I suppose is inevitable anyway
Violet
Emma- too plain?
Alyssa or Alicia (a-li-see-ah) not sure if I prefer the two or three syllables?
Theodora/Theo
Helena/Lenny/Laney. Again I’m not sure which pronunciation I prefer. Helen-ah which would be Lenny or or Hel-ey-nah for Laney
Robyn
Juliet- not keen on Jules although it may be inevitable once she’s at school so can’t always chose nicknames. Like Ettie though or Jet as a probably family-only nn!

Anastasia is beautiful. Ana is lovely nn.
Alexandra is lovely. Alex is nice, Andi- not bad.
Violet- becoming very popular and I think due to this it could date badly.
Emma- yes, plain although it is a 'classic'
Alyssa etc- sorry, I hate these names. Very common where I live. Dated already.
Helena- nice but don't like the likely nn's.
Juliet- nice but again, Jules is a big no. So is Jet.

Whatsyourflava · 18/02/2020 22:10

I think you’ve made a good decision to stick to your list as it’s a great list

Emma is my favourite from your list 🥰 I never find it plain, it’s just classic. There’s so many frilly names these days, emma stands out

Violet and Robyn I love too as well as Alexandra

Don’t like Jules

Whatsyourflava · 18/02/2020 22:12

Don’t like Alicia or HelenA

mamablondie · 25/02/2020 13:39

I love Violet

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/02/2020 13:43

Alexandra- LOVE- my fav
Anastasia nn Ana a bit pretentious imo
Violet - lovely getting popular though
Emma- a little 90s although having said that I heard the name twice in the playground recently
Alyssa or Alicia (a-li-see-ah) hate- bit chavvy
Theodora/Theo- a mouthful/ boys name
Helena/Lenny/Laney. Dated
Helen-ah which would be Lenny or or Hel-ey-nah for Laney. Dated
Robyn- American esque for a girl- not my style
Juliet- classic

Nowayorhighway · 25/02/2020 16:08

I like Violet and Robyn, not keen on the others. Alexandra has the possibility of being shortened to Alexa which isn’t such a great connotation anymore.

Lovely list, I would discard Robyn and Alyssa, although Alicia is nice.

Whatishappening9876 · 25/02/2020 19:18

My DD is named Alyssa so I love it, always gets called chavy on here which I think couldn't be further from the truth and is also very rude :)

DoctorBambino · 25/02/2020 20:11

Alexandra- really like it, sounds like a strong self assured name
Anastasia - love it, unusual but familiar and pretty. Would want to keep as full name.
Violet - not keen makes me think of Charlie and the chocolate factory
Emma- boring but not a name that will ever cause her a problem
Alyssa or Alicia - prefer the Alyssa sound but dont think it looks nice written down
Theodora/Theo - nah too flouncy
Helena/Lenny/Laney - kind of like laney
Robyn - dont like it at all
Juliet- it's ok but I dont really like the ju sound in names

Personally I would choose Anastasia

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/02/2020 20:40

Whatishappening9876 sorry! Just my opinion. I blame the Alicia douvall connotation. My DCs name always gets called chavvy on here

Astronica · 25/02/2020 22:44

A lovely list! My favourites are Anastasia (love lots of nns especially Taisy, Tansy, Ana, Annie but also would use the long form), Juliet and Alexandra. I also really like Violet, Emma and Robyn.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/02/2020 17:32

I’d go with Alexandra if you like nns, and You’ve loved it since you were a child, so It’s not like you’re going through a phase.

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 18:31

not RTFT
Alexandra- yes. Yes to Alex, no to Andi
Anastasia - no. Too 50 shades of gret
Violet - Not keen
Emma- lovely
Alyssa or Alicia (a-li-see-ah) not sure if I prefer the two or three syllables? - you mean 3 or 4 syllables. Alicia is Alisha to rhyme with Patricia in my mind but you will get Alissia, Aleesha and Aleessia
Theodora/Theo - no. Just no.
Helena/Lenny/Laney. Again I’m not sure which pronunciation I prefer. Helen-ah which would be Lenny or or Hel-ey-nah for Laney - Helen-a
Robyn
Juliet- not keen on Jules

Wintersun13 · 26/02/2020 22:04

Alexandra- very nice

Anastasia nn Ana - russian nickname is Nastya as an alternative. Also very nice.

Violet - I don't love the way it sounds

Emma- personally find it a bit boring

Alyssa or Alicia - I like Alyssa

Theodora/Theo - nice too

Helena/Lenny/Laney - very classic, bit boring

Robyn - I like it

Juliet- not keen, I don't love the sound, very girly

I get the impression you're drawn to A names. If I were you I'd choose between Alexandra, Alyssa and Anastasia.

pilates · 26/02/2020 22:34

Alexandra and Violet, the others are ok but not keen on Robyn, Juliet or Theodora
