Serafina Jasmine?

I've been really stuck on Serafina. And I like this spelling as well. But pairing with a middle is hard for this name.

Serafina Jasmine kinda struck me but I dont usually like Jasmine all that much! Does this flow or are there other middles that work well?

That could work.

Or Serafina Joy?

Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 23:08

Jade is a bit meh, OP. I think you need something fabulous. You might only get one chance to name a girl!

Serafina Giovanna
Serafina Georgiana
Serafina Tabitha
Serafina Cordelia
Serafina Clarissa
Serafina (Your own first name/your mum's first name, for example)

My DC all have three middle names, as I wanted to use all my favourite names, so there's no limit on possibilities. Just choose the names you love. And Serafina is not a mouthful!

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 23:23

That is very true! I love your point of view on this!

I think its absolutely lovely. They sound great apart and with each other.

Jossina · 16/02/2020 23:26

BTW, that was Serefina Jasmine that I was commenting on. Though Jade is nice as well. I think Jasmine has a better ring with Serefina.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 23:38

Thank you! I do like it too. Maybe I shouldn't second guess!

Someone suggested Serafina Evaine (Yvaine). I had never heard that name but now it's on my mind! Has anyone heard of Evaine/Yvaine?

Yvaine is the fallen star played by Claire Danes in the film Stardust. It's beautiful! I know a little Yvaine.

Serafina Yvaine is very frilly but I love it!

Slightly ridiculously my current car is a Serafina (I always name my cars), and is shortened to Fina by me and my equally weirdo friends, which I really like 🤣 I love the idea of Serafina Valentina - or Serafina Bella? Sort of rolls off the tongue :)

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 18/02/2020 15:25

I do think a middle name for Serafina should sound soft. I'm also now liking Serafina Halle.

Serafina Halle
Serafina Yvaine
Serafina Jasmine

My friend also named her car. She named it Scarlett 😂

Serafina Eve
Serafina Julia
Serafina Rachel
Serafina Charlotte
Serafina Lara

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2020 16:09

Sefarina Sylvie
Seferina Frances
Serafine Bluebell
Sefarine Elousie

Sefarina is a lovely name.

PetraRabbit · 18/02/2020 17:00

Serafina Yvaine is perfection! Look no further. I was going to suggest Serafina Claire.

ClaudiaWankleman · 18/02/2020 17:05

If you were going for Serafina Valentine, I would naturally think that you would pronounce the E on the end of Valentine, given that you are using the Italian spelling for the first name.

jenthelibrarian · 18/02/2020 17:12

Back in my family tree I found a Seraphie, my maternal grandfather was French so I'm assuming this is the French version.

I really, really fancied using it for our daughter but was overruled.

It's pretty name. One of the witches from the Philip Pullman 'His Dark Materials' books is named Serafina, btw, but she is the epitome of a strong and independent woman.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 18/02/2020 17:26

There is something romantic about Serafina Valentine but it's rather long. Our surname is long too so looking for something breezy but at the same not a fan if really overused middle names.

Jasmine was a first thought but I'm not super connecting to it for some reason.

Evaine is really different. I'm really liking it.

Halle is also light and soft and works.

Seraphie or Sefarina are nice. I like how they are different but I think we will stick to Serafina.

Yvaine is probably a feminine variant of Yvain, who btw is a knight in the arthurian mythology. I would pronounce it "Eev-ehn" in French but english speakers would probably say "Eev-ayne", which sounds even better imo.

Incidentally this is the middle name I have for ds2 (the male version, Yvain) due in may.

I do like Serafina, it's original and really nice with lots of nickname options.

The french version of the name is Séraphine (it's a type of angel, which I'm sure you already know). But I like the Serafina spelling.

With a long name as first name I'd pick a short middle name such as Lea, Leigh, Belle, Briar, Blair, Claire, Dawn, Eve, Zoë...

Though I do like Yvaine a lot for a girl, too 😊

Poorolddaddypig · 18/02/2020 18:55

I don’t think Jasmine ‘goes’. It pushes Serafina from elegant into just a bit much. I don’t like Jasmine. To me it’s a bit 90s and seems a bit naff compared to beautiful Serafina. I think Serafina needs something classic, feminine - Serafina Isabel? Seraphina Leonore? Seraphina Leonora? Serafina Violet? Serafina Juliette? Serafina Hermione? Serafina June?

Scardanelli · 18/02/2020 22:24

Halle is not so good if you're a German speaker. Hallie might be better?

Yvaine/Evaine is lovely as a middle name.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 18/02/2020 23:21

Thanks for all the positive feedback about Evaine/Yvaine (not sure which spelling I would use yet, Evaine seems anglicized which I like since this isnt a very common name that a lot of people have heard of). The history and Claire Danes association make me like this name even more. My only wonder is if its harsh sounding?

I agree about Jasmine. Its soft and I like flower names but it's a little 90s and adds unnecessary frill. I totally am right there with those who have said that.

I like the Halle spelling as it's very clean to me but I'm not opposed to Hallie.

I like Isabel but cannot use it. A friend who I sort of have a weird off/on friendship with has this name.

I also like Vivian but there are so many little girls with this name, some in our family as well.

I like Violet a lot but actor Ben Affleck and actress Jennifer Garner have daughters named Violet and Seraphina so I dont want to seem like I'm copying them!!

Just a further thought. Seraphina Verity?

Scardanelli · 19/02/2020 08:42

Ugh - sorry. I meant Serafina!! (Force of habit, as I have a friend with a Seraphina...)

Overthinker1988 · 19/02/2020 10:20

I think Serafina sounds very vintage and grand whereas Jasmine is quite modern and a bit "downmarket" somehow. To me, the two names jar. I'd maybe go with another Italian name for a middle name, or something English but traditional. No Maes or Jades or anything like that.
