Registering tomorrow - no middle name!

We are registering our baby boy tomorrow morning & as yet he has no middle name so we need all the names thrown at us asap please!

Baby's first name is Arlo & surname is one syllable. We'd like names that sound nice with his first name but aren't too common. Help!

I agree that a middle name with at least two syllables would sound better. Arlo is a lovely name.

I think Arlo is a bit trendy so a traditional middle name would suit. George, Raymons, Dennis, Peter, Clive, Francis, Patrick...

You don;t have to register a middle name now, you could add it in a few months.

Arlo Sebastian is nice but not if your surname is Smith.

Arlo River sounds good. If your last name is one syllable I think a two syllable middle name sounds best with it.

Either go with River or choose a name from family history that you like.

I would have thought Arlo was a young name not old, so would have gone for a more traditional middle name. I quite like it when names flow, so picking up the 'L' of Arlo would work well, IMHO

Agree with others - use an old family name or the name of a good friend. Even an author or artist you admire.

I think it should be a name you like too though because for me, middle names are an option for if a child if they decide they’d like to be known by that name instead. Jude law, Boris Johnson, Meghan Markle - all their middle names.

I really liked Sebastian but couldn't use it as poor Arlo would've been ASS haha. I do think I've got a good sense of humour but that's a bit much.

Theodore is beautiful but it's been forever tarnished for me because of one of the families on Teen Mum UK.

Love Valentine too & it was actually a contender for me from the beginning because he could've come today, but DP says it's too "celebrity".

We looked back into family names but River has really grown on us overnight & family think it's apt too.

Arlo River sounds rather geographical, tbh. ('The village was founded in 1294 and stands on the banks of the Arlo River').

I think you need to go either very short (Arlo James is very good) or quite long. I like Arlo Columba, or how about Arlo Valentine in honour of the day?

If ASS is no good (for understandable reasons) is ARS any better??

I agree with muddling that ARS will do him no favours when he is older.

Not a fan of river personally, mainly because my best friend has given one of her daughters it as her middle name. Also don't think ARS are great initials

I dont like River as a middle name because it sounds like the name if an actual river but if you like it...

You should definitely add in another middle name so he's not ARS...
