We're not finding out the sex of our child but for a girl we're thinking

Georgina Harriet

And a boy

Olivier Thomas

I love the name Joshua but it's very common where we relive (there's three on our street alone!) and I keep joking saying when they're old enough to play out I'll shout Josh and the entire street will come running Halo

Our surname is two syllables and I think the names flow but I'm not sure if it's just because I've said them so much!

What do you think?

Over 8,000 babies a year called Oliver in 2010 and around 5,000 in 2018 (the most recent year the stats have been released for).

Wow, there must be close to 100,000 Olivers out there Shock!!

Workplaceworries · 07/02/2020 17:52

@Whatsyourflava thank you for that!
I worked in a school about 5 years back and there was one Oliver who would be about 14 now, and that's the only Ollie/Oliver I've met, and similarly talking to neighbours there aren't any in the child's classes but again, if there was 5,000 in year X over however many schools then it doesn't surprise me I haven't met any.

I'm personally not keen on Georgina, but Georgina and Harriet have a very similar vibe and go well together. Oliver Thomas is a fine name as long as you don't mind the current popularity of Oliver.

Thefaceofboe · 07/02/2020 19:05

I’m Georgina & get Georgie Grin

Thefaceofboe · 07/02/2020 19:08

Also OP, there is no correlation with someone’s name and if they are a brat / bitch, so I wouldn't stress over it 😂

Marcipex · 07/02/2020 19:14

I’ve never met a likeable Georgina! Still, yours might be the first 😃
Harriet is lovely.
Oliver is a great name but there are gazillions of them all over the place.

ilovepixie · 07/02/2020 19:45

I have a friend called Georgina I think it's lovely but she gets called Gina.

Imok · 07/02/2020 22:09

I like Georgina, personally , not so keen on Harriet but they do 'go' together. Not a fan of Oliver, but surprised myself by liking Olivier! Was actually a bit disappointed when you said it was a typo! I agree with pps, we always seem to have a fair sprinkling of them across the school where I work.

BadPaintDay · 07/02/2020 22:22

I have a primary aged Georgina.... shes usually very sweet and likeable. Interestingly Harriet was my alternative before she was born.

PattiPrice · 07/02/2020 23:21

Georgina Harriet is lovely.

Oliver is too popular. And it will, at some stage in his life, be shortened to the awful Ollie. I think there are just too many of the same names - Oliver, Jack, Harry etc. Give him a name that people will remember.

MrsAgassi · 07/02/2020 23:34

Love Georgina, agree that Oliver is overused.

JollyGiraffe12 · 07/02/2020 23:52

Georgina is beautiful! I went to school with a lovely one. I associate Georgia with being more of a bitchy name for some reason.

FizzyGreenWater · 08/02/2020 12:51

I really like Georgina, much more than Harriet - Georgie is a great nn.

Oliver, far far FAR too popular - so boring now. Thomas would be better - really like the nn Tom, so friendly.

pinkyredrose · 08/02/2020 12:54

Why wouldn't you want to find out the sex? Then you'll have plenty of time to think about names plus you can name him/her before they're born and start creating a name bond.

Pippilsngstrumpf · 08/02/2020 13:29

Love Georgina.

Oliver is so so dull

Pippilsngstrumpf · 08/02/2020 13:34

Thomas/Tom is also very common. We've got 4 in our Scouts group of 13!

Pippilsngstrumpf · 08/02/2020 15:44

I do know a single Georgina! Lovely name.

But I know over twenty Olivers and Toms! They're so overused and unmemorable.

Pippilsngstrumpf · 08/02/2020 17:03

Sorry don't (not do Blush)

Catheric · 09/02/2020 15:50

We have a Georgina, she’s 16 months and the sweetest girl you could ever meet. If we had another girl we would call her Mallory Smile

PlantPotting · 09/02/2020 16:17

I love both your choices
Oliver is a classic
