What do you think? 🤔

(Middle name flow isn't very important to me, it's probably going to be Juliana. Or Ann.)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NC4Now · 02/02/2020 15:05

I like it, but I think she’d get called Lauren a lot.

memberofseven · 02/02/2020 15:09

@puds11 I know. But it's unusual and the first thing I think of when I hear the name - possibly because I have gigantic ones round my garden that desperately need cutting back. Holly is much more (over) used.

floatygoat · 02/02/2020 15:14

And hardy

puds11 · 02/02/2020 15:20

The generation the baby grows up in aren’t going to know who Laurel and Hardy are though so I think that association is irrelevant. 🤷‍♀️

user1493494961 · 02/02/2020 15:27

Ignore people going on about Laurel and Hardy, I grew up in that generation and they didn't cross my mind.

sunfloweryy · 02/02/2020 15:30

I came on to say the same as @ruby2020 Grin

Cheerfullygo4 · 02/02/2020 15:36

So pretty. Not dated at all.

QuintusEstInHorto · 02/02/2020 15:51

Cbeebiesrehab did your Laurel have a red headed sister? I think I may know them!

CassandrasCastle · 02/02/2020 17:03

Yes, I've considered Yanny.🙊.I think that's a fairly flash in the pan thing though, if that makes sense (sorry, I'm tired and flipping baby is hurting my pelvis...not v coherent.)
I'm interested in people saying it's 'dated', just because it seems quite unusual to me
Not like a Janet or Karen say - no offence to those names!

Lindy2 · 02/02/2020 17:08

I like it. I don't understand the dated comments at all. When was there a trend of naming girls Laurel?

Iamagree · 02/02/2020 17:10

What about Sorrel?

Trahira · 02/02/2020 17:12

Sorrel is lovely!

june2007 · 02/02/2020 17:17

I do think of Stan Laurel as well.

Reallybadidea · 02/02/2020 17:31

I was going to call dc1 Laurel but he was a boy. I really like it.

Reallybadidea · 02/02/2020 17:34

Sorrel will always be a piglet's name to me after reading the Mary Rayner books Grin Although now I come to think of it, I did name a child after one of the other piglet's!

CassandrasCastle · 02/02/2020 17:45

Sorrel is nice but has been ruled out. I need to narrow the list somehow!
Laurel is the rogue name floating around which I REALLY WANT TO DP TO LOVE. Je came round to Juniper, but now thinks it's going to become the new Ava/Evie..?

IVflytrap · 02/02/2020 19:40

I really like Laurel. Don't know anyone or even know of anyone with the name. I would never call it dated, simply because I had no idea it has ever been popular enough to end up dated. Lauren, on the other hand...

villamariavintrapp · 02/02/2020 19:46

Love it

TatianaLarina · 02/02/2020 20:36

I have a friend called Laurel and she is called Lauren and Laura ALL THE TIME.

TatianaLarina · 02/02/2020 20:37

Juniper is grim it def won’t be the new Ava.

sqirrelfriends · 02/02/2020 20:41

@ruby2020 you beat me to it!

binday · 02/02/2020 20:53

I love it. I wanted to name DD Laurel but DH vetoed it.

newtothis20 · 02/02/2020 21:28

Laurel Juliana is really pretty! I think it’s a lovely name and definitely better than Lauren

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 02/02/2020 21:34

Laurel Juliana is gorgeous

BackforGood · 02/02/2020 21:58

I automatically said 'bush' when I read Laurel.

I don't understand it being 'dated' either, as, to me 'dated' mean "it used to be very popular anything from 2 to7 decades ago". It has never been 'popular' like that (in the UK anyway). I don't think I've ever met anyone with the name.
