I love Khalid, but would possibly avoid because of the guaranteef mispronunciation. Love Noor, Rohaan and Samir from pp list. Noor is gorgeous, but again would avoid it if in areas where it doesn't work with the accent (here in S.wales it would be destroyed with an oo-uh sound!).

Miriam is beautiful. Nn mimi. I like Nadia too. And Mythily.

Wow so many lovely suggestions!

@LadyMonicaBaddingham @Etinox Mariam was always my first choice, but OH has always vetoe'd it as it's his niece's name (even though she lives in America!) Waaa.
My son is called Yusuf :)

@Pieceofpurplesky I would have never considered Maymunah, as looked at it I would have assumed it was 'complicated'? But when you say it, it actually rolls off the tongue, sounds pretty and has Islamic roots :) What are your roots? (Asian/English?) I ask as I'm always keen to hear what Arabic names sound like to someone of a different culture :)

MummyJ I am a teacher (teach English and am English) I just love the name and it sounds so pretty. It also helps that she was a delightful pupil Smile

I love Aysha. And Aishah and less so Ayesha.

I met a Sakiba recently which I thought was pretty.

I like Hussain. Reminds me of a gorgeous baby boy I sat next to on a long haul flight! He would be about 20 now.

I like Imran too.

BecauseReasons · 30/01/2020 07:21

Aishah, Nafisa and Khadeeja I like. I also know a Mariam which I think is lovely. Aishahs are usually quite intelligent too, in my experience, as are Hanas (I know a couple of Muslim Hanas, though it's not exclusively a Muslim name). Oh, and I know an Eliza (pronounced E-lee-za). And Tasleem.

For the boys, I like Hassan, but not a fan of Hussein (and they are so often sibling pairs). I also like Abdulqadir, Aryaan and Yusuf.

BecauseReasons · 30/01/2020 07:25

Ah, didn't see your update sorry. As PP said, Zara/Zahra/Zarah is lovely. And Sabina is nice too, also Samirah, Samina, Saairah and Sahiba.
