Joel.

With two syllables with emphasis on the first and a subtle change to the second - ‘Jo-ul’?

Or ‘Jole’ to rhyme with ‘sole’, ‘role’, etc.?

Jole

I think I probably say Joe'l, somewhere between Jole and Joe-ul

DiegoSaber · 19/01/2020 18:10

I grew up in the days of Noel's House Party and I'm pretty sure everyone pronounced his name No-ul, not Nole. I can't find any video of his name actually being said though.

Mamabear88 · 19/01/2020 18:18

100% Jole. One syllable. Manchester. Never heard another way.

MrsJoshNavidi · 19/01/2020 18:21

Jo-el.
I'm Welsh if it makes a difference.

Disfordarkchocolate · 19/01/2020 18:23

Jole to rhyme with soul for me but I've heard it pronounced Jo - el many time
Nice either way.

OwlBeThere · 19/01/2020 18:55

JO-ul.
Neither is right or wrong it’s an accent thing.

IVflytrap · 19/01/2020 18:55

Jole, like soul, but grew up in Essex. Have heard Jo-ul pronunciations from others.

QuintusEstInHorto · 19/01/2020 19:27

Jole definitely!

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 19/01/2020 19:51

Jole. North England.

meandmyboyz · 19/01/2020 20:17

It's my sons middle name and in my area Manchester it's pronounced to rhyme with soul, hole etc xx

Urkiddingright · 20/01/2020 10:55

Two syllables (Yorkshire).

CharitySchmarity · 04/02/2020 21:03

Jo-ul (and No-ul). I like it, but only when it's pronounced that way.
