I'd appreciate any thoughts on these names please.

Middle name will be either Cecily or Cecilia, depending on which goes best.

Astrid
Bryony
Bryher
Eira
Elowen
Orlaith
Romilly
Rosalind

Plus, any suggestions of names we haven't thought of would be great!

I like Orlaith but prefer it spelt Orla.

I prefer Rosalie to Rosalind too.

Good luck choosing Smile

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 18/01/2020 17:23

My daughter is Elowen so I'm obviously a big fan of that name Grin Romilly and Orlaith are great choices too - interesting and unusual names.

GreenyQueenie · 18/01/2020 19:53

I like Rosalie too, and actually prefer the shortened versions to Rosalind. Will have to run that one past DH.

I think Romilly Cecilia is an absolutely beautiful name.
All great choices, you have great taste. I also like Astrid.

IckleBear · 18/01/2020 20:30

Astrid Cecily.

DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2020 21:17

Astrid - it's OK, but makes me think of astringents. But it's a good, strong, feminine name
Bryony - I don't mind this I prefer this spelling to Briony
Bryher - I don't like this at all
Eira - gorgeous, but must be pronounced properly, the Welsh way
Elowen - another gorgeous name
Orlaith - I love this name, but slightly prefer Orla
Romilly - no, not for me, it's frilly
Rosalind - gorgeous, one of my favourite Ros- names

I love Cecily too, more than Cecilia.

Suggestions based on the above:

Ingrid - similar to Astrid
Niamh - because it's Irish like Orlaith
Morwenna - because it's Cornish like Elowen

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/01/2020 21:29

I love Bryony.
Romilly is very pretty

Astronica · 19/01/2020 02:22

What a beautiful list. I like them all very much except Rosalind (but love other Rose names with the exception of Rosalie, and do love short forms Rose and Rosie).

Hard to narrow down the others but I think my favourites are, in your order, Bryher Cecily, Elowen Cecilia, Romilly Cecilia.

MrsBertBibby · 19/01/2020 07:01

That's a damn fine list! Personally I like Astrid and Bryony but they are all lovely.

NannyR · 19/01/2020 07:19

All lovely names, I like Astrid and Rosalind best.

NoSauce · 19/01/2020 08:57

Elowen is beautiful. I’d go with that personally.

TatianaLarina · 19/01/2020 09:52

Romilly hands down from that list. I prefer Cecilia to all the others.

I like the name Briar and I think Bryher is the Cornish version - but as a first name I think it will be constantly pronounced Bry Her. So I think it would be better as a middle name.

Romilly Bryher or Cecilia Bryher are gorgeous.

GreenyQueenie · 20/01/2020 16:07

Thanks for your comments everyone. I really like Morwenna but DH doesn't, sadly.

Astrid - nice, but likely to be popular
Bryony - nice, but a bit Brian-y
Bryher - nice but will get misspelt
Eira - lovely if you speak Welsh. It isnt pronounce Eyr-uh or Eye-ruh.
Elowen - prefer Lowenna
Orlaith - no
Romilly - no

I suggest Lowenna or Rosalind, which I think is beautiful.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/01/2020 15:58

Astrid Cecily is lovely

CakeRattleandRoll · 21/01/2020 16:00

Love Rosalind, Elowen and Eira.
And like Astrid and Bryher also.
