Unique boy names?

Mk9yy · 16/01/2020 16:25

As the title suggest, I'm looking for some unique boys names please! I like Percy, Abe and Taron but I'm not in love with them!

Thank you in advance xx

Be careful with Percy. You may as well go for Dick or John Thomas. Point Percy at the porcelaine means go for a pee.

I'm in Surrey and know several boys named Balonz. It's usually available on personalised items in the chichi artisanal craft and gift shops.

I suggest Znolab as a yoonique alternative.

Omashu · 16/01/2020 19:27

Not sure why people are being arsey with you when this question is asked regularly... it is a baby name chat after all Hmm

I like...

Tidus

I like Pelham (nickname Plum!) like PG Wodehouse. Never met one before!

I also really love Clarence B Oddsbody from It’s A Wonderful Life but don’t think I’d be bold enough to use it. Ditto Cary for a boy.

Whatsyourflava · 16/01/2020 19:46

@Omashu totally agree! People ask for unique baby names all the time and it’s regularly used as a search term on google

I don’t take it literally (as in you want to be the only one in the country), just something a bit different. Think lots of people are fed up of cold and wet weather @Mk9yy and taking it out on you xx

Twelve8Ts · 16/01/2020 19:55

Why do some people on here enjoy making others feel silly? So weird

Ford
Brook
Hudson
Errol
Flint
Heath
Evander
Adair
Florian
Sutton

@Whatsyourflava @Omashu thank you both for saying that, people don't realise how hurtful it is to make fun or be rude. I lost a baby 3 years ago and he was named Joel and I never imagined I'd have a boy until I finally got pregnant again but I want the perfect name which is why I asked, I didn't expect the comments I've had from some people.

Joel is nice and I am sorry for your loss.

Yoonique gets flak because people on here are more vocal than in real life.

If a name gets terrible responses here, people IRL will think it and maybe not say it.

How about something a bit retro like Patrick, Jonathan, Gordon or Dennis?
Or a name that has a nice meaning.

notaregularmom · 16/01/2020 20:04

Asa
Liberty
Remy
Kellar
Blake
Isiah
Coby
Xander
Cole

The only unique name will be something you make up

Unique means one of a kind and even rarer names have been used before. Wink

Diggory comes to mind. Only ever met one

TheSandman · 16/01/2020 20:13

people don't realise how hurtful it is to make fun or be rude.

If that was aimed at me then I think you owe me an apology. I wasn't making fun or being rude I was telling the truth. I genuinely wanted to call my son Toshiro Thundercats. I think it would have been a brilliant name for him. As it is he has ended up with an unusual - not unique - name that we have to endlessly explain to people and correct people's misspelling of it.

And the two posts before mine at the top of the thread were hardly insulting, sarcastic or touchy either.

champagneandfromage50 · 16/01/2020 20:15

Harvey
Raff
Kit
Tobias
Theo
Peter

Mk9yy · 16/01/2020 20:22

@TheSandman I'm not going to apologise because that comment I made wasn't aimed at you. If you wanted to call your son Flowerpot or Garden Howe then that's your son so you do as you want and I'm more than happy for you :-). Please don't tell me what I should and shouldn't be offended at or what is or is not offensive, we're all different.

It's just the sheer rudeness of saying a name I like was a name for a penis, it's not really needed and like I said after a loss, I just want something perfect be it unique, unusual or weird because after 3 years of waiting for a chance, it's something that means a lot to ME. I only asked for suggestions from people for names, NOT criticism, NOT for spiteful comments and NOT for an argument.

I do however wish you all the best with your child.

Why not go with something that is nice, standard, but temporarily out of fashion?
Simon, Peter, David, Stephen, Christopher, Michael, John

All of those go well with Joel.

TheSandman · 16/01/2020 20:47

Please don't tell me what I should and shouldn't be offended at or what is or is not offensive, we're all different.

I wasn't telling you what to be offended about. I said IF it was aimed at me. It wasn't. No need to apologise at all.

But the poster who mentioned it was right. 'Percy' is one of the many many euphemisms for penis. As in the 1971 British Sex Comedy Percy and the sequel Percy's Progress starring Hywel Bennett about the world's first successful penis transplant.

You said you like the name Percy, fair enough. It's a good name. The fictional Scarlet Pimpernel was called Percy. And one of the trains in the Thomas the Tank Engine books. It's a good very old name. Probably a bit more common these days than has been for a while after the popularity of the Percy Jackson books but it wasn't 'rude' for the poster to point out that it has another meaning that you may well be unaware of.

Marcipex · 16/01/2020 20:54

I really like Balthazar.

I only know one Jed, one Mallin, one Moss and one Monty, so they are unusual, though not unique.

Whatsyourflava · 16/01/2020 20:55

@Mk9yy I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Horrendous. Just ignore some of the posters on here. Also I adore the name Percy and would keep that on your list .

Joel is a gorgeous name. I don’t know if you’d want something similar like Noel or Jonas (maybe not but just an idea)

Whatsyourflava · 16/01/2020 20:55

Or how about Griff if you like shorter names

Marcipex · 16/01/2020 20:57

OP , Percy is another name for a penis. I think it’s better to find out sooner rather than later.

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/01/2020 21:12

Gideon
Meliodas
Zeldris
Escanor
Galahad
Lucan

whensa · 16/01/2020 21:22

Wasn't trying to be sarky - you used a word but that wasn't what you meant. Trying to clarify so people could actually make helpful suggestions.
You mean rare or uncommon. My son's name is very rare but not unique, so the difference matters to me.

Joel is a lovely name Flowers

How about
Stellan
Adriel
Auberon
Isambard
