Charlotte and Carina

We are adding a new sister to our first dear daughter Charlotte! My wife liked the name Carina, I think it sounds not bad, but I don’t have any association to this name, it seems not to be so common? And so not quite sure how it feels, and how it goes with Charlotte? It does start with same letter C as Charlotte.

Btw I have a candidate name in mind, Emily. Charlotte and Emily sounds lovely, and I know they are nice sister names.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

I like Emily better than Carina but the combination with Charlotte says Bronte sisters to me.

Emily.
I also like Florence, Elsie and Harriet. X

I prefer Emily to Carina which sounds dated to me

PlantPotting · 10/01/2020 08:23

Charlotte and Emily just sound so timeless classic and gorgeous together ❤️

Mumma4262 · 10/01/2020 10:07

I much prefer Emily.

I too, like a pp, immediately thought of the Bronte sisters. But people have paired far worse names together.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 10/01/2020 10:09

Charlotte and Emily are lovely together.

I want to avoid same first initials for my DC - though they do sound very different

MopsRUs · 10/01/2020 12:44

Carina is a lovely name, quite unusual and sounds good with Charlotte. I know of siblings with names both starting with the same letter, and it doesn't seem to cause any difficulties.

Serena is similar sounding, if you wanted to avoid the same initial.

strawberry2017 · 10/01/2020 13:03

Prefer Emily or the spelling Corinna not keen on Carina

Chickenitalia · 10/01/2020 13:06

Use Karina if you want a different letter. I prefer this spelling.
Emily is nice but so overused here. Very similar sound to a lot of other names too. But I doubt anyone would think it unpleasant.

Emily is much nicer, not keen on Carina. Carina seems a difference style of name.

For me Charlotte and Carina are not the same ‘genre of names at all. I agree that Emily, Florence etc are better fits (plus nicer overall Imo)

Emily ❤️

PetitsGateaux · 12/01/2020 12:15

If you would like another letter C and you like Emily, how about Coralie? I think they sound lovely together, too.

MikeUniformMike · 12/01/2020 13:16

Charlotte and Carina are nice.
Charlotte and Emily are also nice but a bit too Bronte maybe. Just don't call the next one Anne.

I think Carina is really nice and see no problem with it as Charlotte's sister unless you particularly don't want their names beginning with same letter. I like Carina spelling best if you do go with it. Emily is also lovely and works fine with Charlotte though I too would immediately think Bronte - but that is not a bad thing and not a reason to avoid it - Charlotte and Emily are both popular mainstream names. Both are good choices but of those two I would pick Carina as it's a bit more unexpected.
