34 weeks and can't hit on a name I truly love. Shortlist so far:

Edie (Edith as full name maybe?)
Abigail
Sadie
Annie
Hazel

Middle name either Violet, Elisabeth or Rose

Surname is one syllable

Opinions and/or other suggestions please

Edie (Edith as full name maybe?) - yes! very cute, very trendy at the moment
Abigail - no, just no!! Abi / Abbey etc even worse!
Sadie - hmmm....not fussed on this, I suspect it could be one of those names you think is going to be different but there will be 5 in her class when she gets to school.
Annie - yes, cute
Hazel - a bit old fashioned but not in a trendy way? I only know one adult one and she's a bit of a wet lettuce!

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 08/01/2020 20:04

Edith

Sorry I meant Avril not April (though April is also sweet)

daisypond · 08/01/2020 20:25

Abigail is the only one I like. It’s the only one that is a proper name to me, and I don’t like Hazel. Edith, Sarah and Anne/Anna are all good and better than the nickname versions.

MikeUniformMike · 08/01/2020 20:30

Edie (Edith as full name maybe?) - not Eden please, and not keen on Edith or Edie
Abigail - lovely
Sadie - no
Annie - yes
Hazel - only know one IRL (50s). She's nice.Otherwise Watership Down.

Middle name either Violet, Elisabeth or Rose - prefer Elizabeth. Rose is overused as a mn, but I would probably go for Abigail Rose.

(Eden Rose sounds like a massage parlour)

MikeUniformMike · 08/01/2020 20:32

Hazel Elizabeth is nice too - I like the repeated L and Z.

PlantPotting · 08/01/2020 21:01

@emmathedilemma Sadie is outside the top 150 names - statistically unlikely to be more than 1 in a school let alone class! Great name

MopsRUs · 08/01/2020 21:09

Annie and Abigail are my favourites of the first names.

Abigail!

chuffoff · 08/01/2020 22:34

Thanks for your input! Abigail gets a fair few votes. I did have Evelyn on my long list too but Evie is so overused in our area. Annie is a family name so would be well-received by them and Edie seems to be a popular choice. Sadie was the first name that I thought I could get on board with. I might just aim to narrow it down to 3 and then see what she's like when she arrives. It's just an unusual feeling as I was completely set on my first 2 DC's names by this stage (and loved them both).

Sadie and abigail ❤️

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 10:33

LOVE Edith, Annie and Sadie. Really like Hazel. Strongly dislike Abigail

PlantPotting · 09/01/2020 10:54

@chuffoff what are your first 2 DCs names out of interest? I don’t think siblings names need to match whatsoever but might help me pick a favourite from your list.
Current favourites Edith and Sadie

PlantPotting · 09/01/2020 10:55

And Abigail actually! Never thought of that name before and not met any

notaregularmom · 09/01/2020 10:58

Edith violet or Sadie elisabeth are gorgeous

brokenstone · 09/01/2020 11:00

Your 3 middle names work well together so why not pick two of those for a first and middle name?

Rose Elisabeth
Elisabeth Rose
Violet Rose
Elisabeth Violet

Hepsibar · 09/01/2020 11:40

How lovely that time spent going through names and those that are definitely no, maybe or yes! Enjoy it! When baby's born of course none of them may suit her and of course to remember they are only "baby" for a short while and then there's "toddler", "child", teen, young adult and the rest of their life!

Loving Edith Rose or Edith Elisabeth ... note Elisabeth spelt this way, pretty, but be prepared for a life of misspellings and problems with correcting email and corporate/gov documentation.

chuffoff · 09/01/2020 15:02

@PlantPotting don't want to out myself to much but my boys names are both three letters- eldest has the same first name as singer with surname Sayer and youngest is shortened version of Joseph (Joseph on birth certificate).

Looks like Hazel is least popular on this thread, I don't think it's quite right for us so will probably eliminate that one.

OP posts:
chuffoff · 09/01/2020 15:05

Elisabeth spelt that way for family reasons but realise might make things bit awkward for future admin so may reconsider if we go with that for middle name

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2020 15:30

Elisabeth is OK, it's a standard spelling in some countries. It's just more commonly spelled with a z in the UK.
