Give me all the opinions:

Nice?
Popular? Etc...

I find MN really helps me to narrow down my list! Thanks guys

Beautiful name! If I remember correctly, Greek Goddess of rainbows (hence the connection above I imagine).

Lebkuchenlovers · 08/01/2020 10:55

I know two, both pronounce it Ee ris. Like the beginning of Iridescent if that makes sense.

Lebkuchenlovers · 08/01/2020 10:56

I'm not so keen on the Eye ris pronunciation. I find Ee ris more feminine and beautiful

nowaypose · 08/01/2020 13:28

It’s a beautiful name, I’ve always loved it.

mamablondie · 09/01/2020 19:22

Thanks for the comments, I only really like the ‘Eye-ris’ pronunciation :/ would this be what people consider default? Or is she going to spend her life correcting people?

Gorgeous x

olivertwistwantsmore · 09/01/2020 22:04

Beautiful. Classic. Easy to spell. Go for it!

StillCounting123 · 10/01/2020 23:14

I have an Iris who is a baby. Never had any issues with it, a good few compliments and several people telling me that their granny/elderly neighbour/ old auntie is called Iris and that it's nice it's back in fashion again.

CatyaPurella · 10/01/2020 23:17

Going against the grain, I think of old ladies. Sorry

WillingSpringTime · 10/01/2020 23:24

I love it. Sadly DH vetoed it for our DD Sad

SemperIdem · 11/01/2020 00:51

I really like it. I think it’s quite on trend at the moment UK wide but by the same token, I have only met one so I think the popularity varies.

VioletVerity · 11/01/2020 00:54

I love it! Was on our list too. I don't think it's very popular around the N East.

WindyMiller1020 · 11/01/2020 01:05

I love it! Reminds me of the film The Holiday.

I've never met one in real life, it only seems popular on mumsnet!

Ifixbrokenthings · 11/01/2020 01:19

Love the name, very classic.

Am now singing Iris by the GooGoo dolls badly to myself😊

AlliKaneErikson · 11/01/2020 05:31

I have a cousin whose name is pronounced the same but spelt ‘Eirys’.

Bunbunbunny · 11/01/2020 05:38

Love it but was my Nan's name so biased

Skyejuly · 11/01/2020 13:32

I'm a carer for a lady called Iris. Love it.

longtompot · 11/01/2020 13:36

Love it. My nan was called Iris, though it was actually her middle name. Everyone called her it.

BobbyBlueCat · 11/01/2020 13:44

Beautiful.

Balloondog · 11/01/2020 13:46

Love it, my grandmother was an Iris and I think of it as a beautiful, classy yet feisty name. We would have used it if we'd had children.

Charlottejbt · 11/01/2020 14:38

I know one who is about 9 I think. Beautiful name.
