I'm having an issue and only 6 weeks before my little one is due!
I've chosen the name Ieuan, yet now I'm having people query the pronunciation. I want to call him "Ewan" and just thought at the time that this was another way of spelling it. A number of YouTube videos later and I'm finding Ieuan pronounced "jauan"
How would you pronounce this? What other spellings could I use other than "Ewan"?

If you are in a very Welsh area where the everyday language is Welsh, use Iwan. If you aren't, use Ewan.

The spelling is Ewan or Euan.

I am in Scotland and the Euan spelling is more common, but Ewan isn't unheard of. Iwan and Ieuan are different names.

I think you'll find that Ieuan is Ieuan in North Wales and South Wales. Neither Y-eye-an nor Yey-an are correct.
The anglicised pronunciation of Y-eye-an is more likely in S. Wales because you hear less Welsh there and the name may be more popular there.
Iwan and Ieuan aren't the same name but they are both forms of John.

Not related, but Iestyn (YES-tin, welsh for Justin) usually gets a +ive response on here.
