Adore all 3 and finding it hard to narrow down
Potential "Tilly" & "Nellie" nicknames for Matilda & Penelope but more so focused on the full name
Thank you

Another vote for Penelope (although she may get the occasional penna-lope)

I have a Philippa and get lots of nice comments about her name, no other Philippas at school. But people do tend to spell it wrong as another poster mentioned before, She's Not Pippa or Pip but won't mind those being used when she gets older

Penelope is awful. The others are ok.

I love Matilda but I think it’s become quite common. Huge fan of Penelope, not keen on Phillipa.

Matilda, although there are quite a lot of them about.

Matilda is my favourite.

I also like Philippa, but had a colleague Philippa, known as Pippa, who hated it as apparently it's something rude in quite a few foreign languages. We work for an international company and she got fed up of colleagues doing a double take when she introduced herself. Not sure if this would bother you, I'm sure it's the case for many names.

I like Penelope with Penny as a nn. Really dislike Phillippa (just sounds like a boring boys name with an A added) but Pip and Pippa are very cute and wearable from baby through to adulthood. Could you just christen her Pippa and go with that or is it too "nicknamey"?

Penelope or Matilda.

Fairenuff · 03/01/2020 15:45

Love Philippa but would go for double p in the middle so it's different to Philip. Also like the shortened Pip, Pippa or even Pippy. Matilda can also be shortened to Tildy. Not keen on Penelope though.

MyCatScaresDogs · 03/01/2020 19:41

I love Pippa so it would be Philippa for me, followed by Matilda. I am not personally a fan of Penelope (sorry) but know Penelopes who are nicknamed Penny, Poppy and Nell.

burritofan · 03/01/2020 19:51

Penelope is wonderful. (My daughter's name!) It can absolutely be nicknamed Nell, as well as Penny.

Though yes, you do get the occasional Penna-lope but really, every single name in the universe can be mispronounced by stupid people, it's not a reason to avoid a lovely name.

Matilda is nice too; Philippa is meh.

I love Phillipa

Luckystar777 · 03/01/2020 21:52

Favourite is Matilda nn Tilly, Matty or Tilda
Philippa nn Pippa or Pip is also lovely

Really don't like Penelope and the nn Nell, Nellie or Penny are IMO awful.
