Hi there, I posted a few weeks ago looking some advice for Baby No 7 - a girl - our current children are Ewan, Eilidh, Peter, Cait, Harry and Robbie.

I have been struggling to think of name - my beloved dad who died 11 years ago was called Terry - not a name I would pick for a boy but beginning to think Teri for a girl might be quite nice and a real tribute to my dad. Just not sure 🤔- had been think Teri Elizabeth after my dad and gran - our surname is short, Scottish and easy to pair with

My dad didn’t have any middle names -Teri would be in tribute to him so I would want to either use it or not, it is a name as a say I don’t mind - but not quite 100 per cent.

Other names I (DH suggested very little so far) quite like are:
Cara
Tara - as suggested by a poster
Emily
Emma
Erin

I find girls names a lot more difficult than boys. We have Eilidh and Cait - husband is Scottish

Our surname is Blair - which I think is a nice name and most names sound good with it

I think that Teri is quite dated but not an awful name.

Im not a fan of giving the name of a loved relative to a baby, I feel that while it is nice to remember the relative with maybe a middle name or similar name, a baby deserves a name of their own.

Tara is really nice as is Erin. I’m not at all keen on Teri and although doing it in memory of your dad is lovely, it wouldn’t be a name I would want. Teri Blair would sound like a nod to Cherie Blair too.

by the time your DD is 10ish the 70/80s of Teri will have swung round into fashion - isn't that era for names on the edge of a comeback? I like Teri!

I'd be more conscious of the ear-snag of Teri Blair being a perfect mix of Tony & Cherie Blair but maybe - again in 10 yrs - that really won't matter either.

Your kids names include mine and one of my brothers! I'll give you my other siblings names plus some other ideas my parents had:

Niamh
Calum
Cara
Duncan

I found this 3 year old thread today and decide to post that we didn’t call our now three year old daughter Terri after my dad but went for Theia Elizabeth - with the T as a slight nod to him (we call her T sometimes like we did him) and Elizabeth after my lovely granny (his mum). Love her name!
