Twin girls name

Ellecrawford · 29/12/2019 01:13

Hi everybody, my twin girls are due end of February 2020😊💗 names are a huge problem though!! I obviously want them to have there own identity, however (I don't know whether this will get hate) but I would love for their names to be matching also.. a list of names I really like are ...

Darla
Hattie
Heidi
Gracie
Penelope
Elsie
Dollie
Delilah
Wynter
Rosabella
Lilia
Liliana
Darcy

The names I love together are
Rosabella & Lilia
Liliana & Violet
Heidi & Hattie
Delilah & Dollie
Darla & Darcey
Faith & Hope
Harlow & Harper

Is it bad to put names together that start with the same letter? Or that both have same meanings such as flowers? I reeeeeaaalllyy need help😩

Thanks so much xx

Same initial, surname, sex and DOB wouldn’t be great for individuality and paperwork!

Heidi and Grace
Delilah and Liliana

I have twin nieces and their parents had the exact same concern about the naming. They have completely different names to what was planned, they were originally going to have names both the same letter, but they felt that it wouldn’t give soild identities to each twin and didn’t want people to get confused with who was who, they also said that they didn’t want them to be seen as a double act and felt some of their names sounded more like a duo than individuals.

I really love Penelope and Darcy. I think it gives both individual identity but both names are just as sweet as each other. If you wanted something similar for both of them you could always do the middle name as similar to each other.

Darla: nice
Hattie: as a nn for Henrietta sure
Heidi: ok
Gracie: as a nn for Grace
Penelope: love it
Elsie: so-so
Dollie: NO poor kid
Delilah: nice
Wynter: I like Winter more
Rosabella: not sure, I feel like I need a thick Italian accent when I say it...
Lilia: made up name?
Liliana: ok
Darcy: nice

The names I love together are
Rosabella & Lilia: two made up names make a pair?
Liliana & Violet: so-so
Faith & Hope: sounds like they are from the 1300s....

I think it's better to give twins names that start with different letters as it makes marking things easier.

JumpingFrogs · 29/12/2019 07:43

My identical twin girls have grown up to be completely different (clothes, music tastes etc) and would HATE matching names. We picked two Victorian style names, different initials, one of 2 syllables, one of 3 syllables. The first born twin has the name that's further down the alphabet, so on school registers etc the second born twin gets her name called out first. Personally I think two flower names or two virtue names is just too matchy. Liliana would inevitably get shortened to Lily so for this reason I'd rule out Liliana and Violet (or Faith and Hope)

CatintheFireplace · 29/12/2019 08:14

I think names that sound good together (as you might pick for siblings) are fine, but using the same initial, or having them too matchy (e.gn Faith and Hope) would be a bad idea.

Heidi and Elsie
Penelope and Delilah
Lilia and Rosabel (I much prefer this to Rosabella, which sounds too much like Rubella to me)

londongirl86 · 29/12/2019 08:15

I'd focus more of them flowing nicely than making them too twinny like

Lilly and Grace
lily and Lola
Isabella and Daisy
Liliana and Anabel
Ava and Heidi

You have lots of nice names but they seem to similar like Harlow and Harper.

That's just me personally. I personally like old names on boys like Arthur and Freddie and modern names for girls like Mia, Myla etc. It's all down to personal choice though so name them what you love. You've done well to like so many names lol. We had two girls and two boys on our list x

PlantPotting · 29/12/2019 08:16

Rosabella 😬 id just assume you follow Lucy Carter on Instagram and have copied her twins name, sorry. It sounds like a made up name to me that a relatively famous instamum has made up x

20viona · 29/12/2019 08:28

Out of those I'd go violet and Delilah.

radioband · 29/12/2019 08:31

I'm a twin, our names start with different letters but end with the same sound ey? Maybe consider that kind of thing?

Flymetothestars · 29/12/2019 08:37

Violet and Delilah are gorgeous

Spied · 29/12/2019 08:43

Like the idea of similar sounding endings.
I'd not be matching their initials though. Or having matching virtue names and all that jazz!.
Heidi and Elsie are my favourites.

Whatsyourflava · 29/12/2019 08:43

Violet and Delilah

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/12/2019 08:50

Darla - love
Hattie - like as a nn
Heidi - like
Gracie - like as a nn for Grace
Penelope - not for me
Elsie - not a fan
Dollie - OK as a nn
Delilah - like
Wynter - like spelt properly
Rosa Bella - too frilly for me
Lilia - like
Liliana - too frilly
Darcy - Meh

I'm not a fan of your pairings at all sorry

From your list I would go with

Darla and Grace or Lilia and Grace

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/12/2019 08:52

Oh actually I missed Faith on your list which I love, though not with Hope

Darla and Faith gets my vote

rainbowstardrops · 29/12/2019 09:32

I love Harlow and Harper.

babychampam · 29/12/2019 09:40

I find matchy twin names incredibly cringy.

I purposely gave my twins names with different initials, syllables and endings though so I may be the wrong person to advise Blush

Miahadalittlelamb · 29/12/2019 13:19

Those names are very similar to lucy carter choices:

They went with Rosabella and India in the end

Primrosepenny · 29/12/2019 13:20

Darla - nice
Hattie - nope
Heidi - nope
Gracie - absolutely not
Penelope - lovely
Elsie - no no no
Dollie - no. She’ll be a grown woman one day and spend most of her life as an adult.
Delilah - lovely!
Wynter- definitely no

Rosabella- nice for a cat but too much for a human
Lilia- no
Liliana- lovely
Darcy- nope. Chavvy

I like Penelope and Delilah together and those are my favourites from the list. Don’t give them the same initials

Footle · 29/12/2019 13:30

Some go for anagrams - Celia and Alice , Amy and May, or if you're seriously Scots, Senga and Agnes.

stoplickingthetelly · 29/12/2019 13:36

I know twin girls called faith and grace (in their 20s now). It is a bit matchy, but nice names.

Thefaceofboe · 29/12/2019 13:44

Liliana and violet are lovely and aren’t alike at all but go together really well. I also love Eliana, Rosabella and Harlow (or Marlowe is nice) Grin

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/12/2019 14:26

Not Rosabella

Sounds like you’re fan girl-ing Lucy Carter from Instagram /youtube

Violet is lovely

MikeUniformMike · 29/12/2019 15:59

Darla - not keen
Hattie - lovely if short for Harriet
Heidi - lovely
Gracie - not sure
Penelope - ok
Elsie - no
Dollie - Dolly is nicer, I like Dorothy
Delilah - no
Wynter - Awful
Rosabella - sound like a disease
Lilia - tesco own brand tampon as was
Liliana - no. Lily is much nicer
Darcy - no, awful

The names I love together are
Rosabella & Lilia - no
Liliana & Violet - no
Heidi & Hattie - ok but too Matchy matchy
Delilah & Dollie - just no
Darla & Darcey - no
Faith & Hope - No - fine as middle names
Harlow & Harper - no

I would give each a name that is different. Firstborn gets the name that comes after the other in the alphabet. e.g.
Rosa and Heidi
Harriet and Dorothy.

They will be called The Twins a lot so let them have an identity of their own

Copperas · 29/12/2019 16:07

Harriet and Dorothy would be Hatty and Dotty

userabcname · 29/12/2019 16:20

I'd go for Penelope and Heidi.
