Either names that haven't been around for a long time or names that you think will pick up in popularity or names that are almost unheard of that you think will make an appearance!

I don't think there'll be that much change to be honest.
I think it'll still be Oliver Noah Arthur Amelia Ava Isabella in the top 10.
Names such as Ralph and Percy seem to be gaining popularity.
I think names such as Kevin Alan and Michael will make a come back with in the next few years along with Amy Laura and Rachel for girl.
I think na me s such as Olivia Sophie Thomas and James will always be around. They're undated and suit all ages and classes.
Ive noticed a decline in Ch loe and Emily.
I.don't think Lauren Paige or Jade will be back for a while

Names from the 70's.

FredaFrogspawn · 28/12/2019 23:21

Maybe Donna, Jackie, Teresa, Lynn, Susan, Wendy, Helen, Jenny, Catherine, Mandy, Judy for girls.

Barry, Colin, John, David, Scott, Glen, Keith, Richard, Gary, Wayne, Des, Gordon, Brian for the boys.

Those were my classmates in the early 70s!

Ikeameatballs · 28/12/2019 23:26

Agree with Freda.
Also Tracey, Valerie, Claire, Martin, Ian,Trevor.
After all, in the seventies we couldn’t imagine babies ever again being named Eve, Noah, Ruby or Arthur Grin

Names I've noticed already:

Peter
Michael
Charles (without a Charlie shortening)
Lawrence

Jessica
Lyra (ok I know this is already popular, but the last 3 baby girls I've known have been called this!)

londongirl86 · 29/12/2019 08:30

I think Michael will be back because of peaky blinders.

This is why Ada and Arthur and Tommy are in.

I remember when Chloe was the name at the top for ages. So many Chloe's. you just knew if someone had a girl it would be Chloe. Olivia is staying put. I find Olivia overused now but still nice.

I think names like Hannah, Pheobe, Amie, Leah, Lianne, Katrina, Jessica might make a come back

daisypond · 29/12/2019 08:35

Perhaps some of the names that were popular in the Roaring 20's will make a come back?

Just googled the top 20 baby names from the 1920's, there's some great girls names -

Ada
Jean
Peggy
Nellie
Stella
Rita
Shirley

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/12/2019 14:24

Sharon? Too soon?

RamonaFlower · 29/12/2019 16:15

I'm hoping that 2020 is going to be a big year for Balonz

AdaColeman · 29/12/2019 16:34

I think the use of surnames as first names will increase, and linked with that, the use of craft/skill names such as Hunter Carter Cooper etc.

I think there will be a rise in the use of new or “unikeek” names, Luna Agapanthus Cameo Kay-tee-belle for instance.

Roman names might be trend, we are already seeing a few Aurelias, and Flavia could be the new Freya!

None of these 50s/60s names are ready to come back. Baby Barry just doesn’t fit Grin.

Petrichor11 · 29/12/2019 17:37

Older names like Valerie, Irene, Susan etc that haven’t quite come back yet.

I think the likes of Barry and Tracey are still a few decades away!

I think Sophie, Olivia, Jack, Harry etc will remain very popular.

I think more unique names will also become more commonplace, not so much specific names but the trend for them

Biscuitsneeded · 29/12/2019 18:31

Oooh I actually really like Irene!

emilybrontescorsett · 29/12/2019 18:37

Depends on which celebs are popular.
I think old grandad names such as Alfred, Eric and things like Augustus and Andronicus.
For girls Doris, Doreen, Betty.

MontyBowJangles · 29/12/2019 21:41

Babies I've met recently are called

Harold (not Harry)
Ernest (not Ernie)
Basil
