I need a girl’s name that goes well with Amélie. First of all, what do you think of:

Indie
Skye
Belle
Ariana
Cleo
Rowan
Autumn
Eleanor

As you can see, the names I like don’t really have a theme! Any other suggestions? Must be more than one syllable, not too popular but not too weird either or the husband won’t go for it.

Indie- like
Skye- like
Belle- not too keen
Ariana- my favourite from your list
Cleo- not too keen
Rowan- it is popular for boys at the moment but i love it for a girl
Autumn- is ok

you could also consider Keira or Valence?
Eleanor

MrsNoMopp · 10/12/2019 18:06

I like Eleanor, Skye and Autumn. Eleanor Skye would be lovely.

RhymingRabbit3 · 10/12/2019 18:11

I dont think any of them really "go" with Amelie. Ariana is probably the best but would you want two A names?

Amelie is very dainty and feminine in my opinion, so names like Rowan, Indie and Cleo which are much more unisex and "strong" just dont go well together IMHO.

Suggestions
Rosalie
Noelle
Juliet
Vivienne
Charlotte
Isabelle

i would go for a different inital - although not essential.
really like
Skye and Cleo,
Eleanor ok but lots n lots of Ellie's if thats an issue for you
others
Giselle, Madelaine, Clementine, Freya ?

Peachbubble · 10/12/2019 18:21

I like Cleo and Autumn the best. Other suggestions:
Jemima
Flora
Heidi
Lyra

Indie - LOVE
Skye - Love but slightly down market
Belle - love
Ariana - Love - also love Aria, Aurora, Aurelia and Amara
Cleo - Love
Rowan - definitely prefer on a girl than a boy but think as Roman (with M) is now fastest rising boys name and is everywhere over the past year.... when there are so many lovely names to chose from I’d avoid choosing a name so similar to such a popular name as it’s ripe for confusion.
Autumn - love
Eleanor - Love

Roxanne/Roxanna
Pearl
Delilah
Ottilie (Ottie)
Cora
Eliza
River

Jemima

My favourite is Eleanor, but Amelie and Eleanor is a bit of a mouthful.

Colette
Meredith
Saskia
Heather
Genevieve
Orla
Pandora
Oceane

MrsJoshNavidi · 10/12/2019 18:44

The Amélie I know has a sister Éloïse.
Not sure I like it, but their mum is French.

BareBelliedSneetch · 10/12/2019 18:47

How about Elodie or Ottilie?

Cornishmumofone · 10/12/2019 18:50

Aurelie

KitNCaboodle · 10/12/2019 18:53

How are you saying Skye and Belle if it needs to be at least 2 syllables? Smile

How about:

Rosa
Lucy
Lola
Della
Delilah
Olive
Beatrice
Cora
Florence

FWIW I like Belle with Amelie.

daisypond · 10/12/2019 18:57

I really like Eleanor and Rowan but I don’t think either go with Amelie.
Sylvie
Genevieve
Vivienne

AnnaSparks · 10/12/2019 19:08

Yes just realised I broke my own rule about more than one syllable. It’s more preferable than essential - last name is one syllable so it can sound a bit clumsy. Shame because I like short names

Cleo or Juliet
Elodie?

Branleuse · 10/12/2019 19:13

Anaïs
Camille
Elodie
Mathilde
Madeleine
Genevieve (although the french pronounce it Gen-vi-eve, rather than the english Gen-e-veeve, which might complicate it)
Elisabeth

OlivejuiceU2 · 10/12/2019 19:17

Angelica

CandyApple1995 · 10/12/2019 19:18

Phoebe
Alice
Olivia
Esther
Jasmine
Faye
Erin
Mabel
Erica
Holly
Elsie
Heidi
Josie
Eloise
Anya
Sadie
Fern
Abigail
Saffie
Lydia
Tori
Annalise
Vanessa
Annie

Hope that gives you some food for thought x

Manon.

I really love Manon. And Loveday, but I know it's not to everyone's taste.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 10/12/2019 19:29

The first thing that came to my mind was Rosa.

From your list, I like Cleo the best with Amelie.

Thetimetravelerswife · 10/12/2019 19:30

Sophie is lovely with Amelie.

Or what about Kitty?

Thetimetravelerswife · 10/12/2019 19:30

I just read Pp, Rosa is gorgeous with Amelie!

mathanxiety · 10/12/2019 19:40

I like Cleo from your list.

Militantmartha · 10/12/2019 19:48

Amelie is a lovely name. Of your name ideas so far I like Indie the most but it's a very different kind of name. Eleanor goes well with Amelie because of the three syllables but will most prob become Ellie or Elle.

How about any of the below?

Esmée
Ottilie
Margot
Lilah

Bobbybobbins · 10/12/2019 20:18

I prefer India to Indie.
Like Cleo, Florence too.
