Nina - having second thoughts

We have called our newborn Nina which we see as a strong, fun, classic, international and sassy name.

We have had some really negative reactions which have shocked me.

What do people think of Nina? She’s not registered yet so we could change.

So glad you kept it! My niece is Nina - I adore it. My sister also liked Rose (also lovely) but I'm glad she went with Nina, esp. as she would have been one of 2 Rose's in her class. Also, wouldn't you rather be called Nina than Rose in your 40s or 50s?

As for your MIL Tina concerns, I saw that Nina is in the top 10 names of baby announcements in the Telegraph. Not that that really means anything but I think it's pretty good evidence that it is not dated or somehow weird. And my favorite French clothing designer (creator of the brand Sezane) has a daughter called Nina. As does Amanda Seyfried...

Your MILs behaviour is terrible! Don't let her make you have second thoughts about what is a lovely name! Sounds like she probably won't be happy unless she is called Catherine regardless 🙄 I would be getting your DH to have words with her! X
