Hi,

Expecting dd1 in Dec!! Was keen on the name Amelie...however every time I mention it to people no one has ever heard of it?? Is it really that unknown? Worried that it’s too “weird” now.
How many Amelie’s do you know...and where are u based?

Ah-mel-LEE (it does sound very similar to emily but with an Ah sound instead of an Eh sound). Kind of like the difference between Emilia and Amelia...

Otherwise other option is Isla. Which do you prefer?

I know one Amelie who’s around 10 now. Her mum named her after the main character in the film of that name.

It’s in the top 100 girls names (although it has reduced in popularity over the last few years), so I would expect that plenty of people would be familiar with the name.

DD is 17 and has 3 in her year. It's not uncommon!
