What do you think if these boys names?

We've found 4 that we like, I'd like to hear your opinions and anything you can think of that goes well.

Dh is insisting that his middle name be Craig, and our surname begins with F and is 2 syllables.

The ones we both like are:

Jonah
Jude
Fionn (pronounced Finn)
Isaac

I only like Jude and Isaac. I think I slightly prefer Isaac.

Angie6868 · 29/11/2019 19:58

I like Isaac and Jonah. Not keen on Craig to be honest

TenThousandSpoons · 29/11/2019 20:00

All great apart from the spelling Fionn which is a Welsh woman’s name to me. Stick with Finn.

Jonah - like a lot. Some people have “unlucky” associations for this name though.
Jude - great
Finn - popular
Isaac - my favourite

TenThousandSpoons · 29/11/2019 20:01

Craig doesn’t go with any though imo. Especially Isaac Craig because of the two c together

OhHellYa · 29/11/2019 20:04

Not mad on Isaac but love the others

cptartapp · 29/11/2019 20:05

I love Isaac but none of the others. Especially Craig.

CandyApple1995 · 29/11/2019 20:07

I love Jonah!

user1493494961 · 29/11/2019 20:08

Like all your first names but Craig is pretty awful, even for a middle name.

JLo1979 · 29/11/2019 20:09

Throwing a spanner in the works here. Love the name Fionn but it's not pronounced Finn. It's more Fee Yun but said fast so fyun iyswim. It's a gorgeous name all the same. So are your other choices.

Pipandmum · 29/11/2019 20:09

Fion will forever be correcting either the spelling or pronunciation. Use Finn.
My nephew is called Jonah obviously I like that. People don't often get the Biblical reference (and he saved the city in the end should be lucky!)
Jude is ok as is Isaac but of all those names I think of the last one as most Jewish.

MarshaBradyo · 29/11/2019 20:11

All your choices rank the same to me but why does your Dh get to dictate it’s Craig for mn?

tempnamechange98765 · 29/11/2019 20:12

I have a Jude so that gets my vote!

Also like Finn (not Fionn sorry).

kenandbarbie · 29/11/2019 20:14

I don't mind Craig! As a middle name anyway.

Fionn isn't pronounced Finn?!?!?

Like all your other choices.

Actually not Jude too much.

Mattelio · 29/11/2019 20:15

I love Jude and Isaac. I like the way fionn sounds but not the way its spelt, and I'm not keen on jonah

topcat2014 · 29/11/2019 20:16

Surely only Jude law gets away with that as a boys name?

Thinkingsticks · 29/11/2019 20:17

I love Isaac (I have one) and I think jude is very nice too. Maybe you could have two middle names?
Then you could use Craig plus a name that you have chosen.
My Isaac has two (One pretty awful name that my husband insisted on, which is his dad's name and worse than Craig x

itzybitzy · 29/11/2019 20:19

@MarshaBradyo craig is dh name, he has his dads name as his middle name so wants to carry on the tradition.

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/11/2019 20:21

I would rule out Fionn and Jude as a 1 syllable first and middle name just sounds short and clunky

I like both Jonah and Isaac, I slightly prefer Jonah as it is more unusual

itzybitzy · 29/11/2019 20:22

@Thinkingsticks that's a good idea actually!

bluebellbuttons · 29/11/2019 20:23

Jonah is really lovely.

Not fussed on the rest.
Fionn/Finn and Jude really don't flow well with Craig as a middle name.

MarshaBradyo · 29/11/2019 20:23

Got you. I actually have my mother’s name as my mn and my brother Dad’s.

TenThousandSpoons · 29/11/2019 20:25

What is DH middle name? Maybe that would be better (and still carry on a tradition)...

BelfastNonBlonde · 29/11/2019 20:25

Fionn is the Gaelic spelling for Fionn. Not welsh.
Ffion is a different name (and typically female I think?)

BelfastNonBlonde · 29/11/2019 20:25

Sorry Gaelic spelling for Finn..

BelfastNonBlonde · 29/11/2019 20:26

I love Jude.
