Is there supposed to be a difference in the spellings?

PurpleDaisies · 23/11/2019 22:29

Cross posted with you. I’m not a fan but it’s a sensible name.

dontlickthelamp · 23/11/2019 22:30

I really like the name Brian. If you like it go for it

Omashu · 23/11/2019 22:45

So awful Sad

Tillygetsit · 23/11/2019 22:46

I'm really sorry but it's horrible.

Mammyloveswine · 23/11/2019 22:46

No it's hideous

Mammyloveswine · 23/11/2019 22:47

Brennan is ok? As an alternative

SlightlyBonkersQFA · 23/11/2019 22:48

No. Not ready for Brian to come back yet. Same for Graham, or Derek...

PurpleDaisies · 23/11/2019 22:51

Brennan is worse.

NationMcKinley · 23/11/2019 23:02

No. Not ready for Brian to come back yet. Same for Graham, or Derek...

Or Clive. Or Geoff.

I know a Brian. He’s ace but it’s not a name I’d choose for a baby. Sorry.

bridgetreilly · 23/11/2019 23:12

Brian is better than Bryan, imo, and I quite like it. If you love it, go for it.

Flymetothestars · 23/11/2019 23:12

Sorry no I like unusual names but it’s sounds too like Brain to me 🧠 🤢

Astronica · 24/11/2019 07:37

I've known so many, all now aged in their 60s to 80s, that I just can't feel any love for Brian on a little child.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/11/2019 07:38

I mean baby Paul made a revival thanks to Sam Faiers- not sure I can be swayed on baby Brian

MissHenty · 24/11/2019 08:09

Don’t like Brian
Agree it’s too like Brain. It’s just not a nice name. Has a horrid sound to it

Mammyloveswine · 24/11/2019 08:10

@PurpleDaisies Grin

How about Bryn? Wasn't Jerome Flynn's character called it in game of thrones?

daisypond · 24/11/2019 08:11

It’s fine. I know a teenage one. It does seem dated but that’s because it’s out of use. I also know an impossibly cool and lovely Clive in his 20s. Paul is very popular - top ten? - for babies in Germany.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/11/2019 08:11

It's old fashioned and it's just not a nice name. Only my opinion though.

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 08:13

Probably time for it to come round again. That’s what happens.

MissHenty · 24/11/2019 08:14

@OnlyFoolsnMothers no paul didn’t make any comeback after Sam named her baby it. It’s been on a decline for the past 20 years. Numbers are continuing to fall year in year. About to leave the top 350 names

user1480880826 · 24/11/2019 08:16

Perhaps Gary instead?

grandmasterstitch · 24/11/2019 08:17

My cat is called Brian so no. I like lots of old names but Brian isn't one of them (unless for a cat) see also Ian (equally good for a cat)

KindnessCrusader · 24/11/2019 08:24

No. But leave the B off and Ryan is beautiful!

Blingismything · 24/11/2019 08:25

A colleague married a Brazilian man they had a baby and called him Brian, he is now six. Anyway when she brought her newborn baby Brian into work to show everyone, quite a few people misheard/assumed and called him Ryan! Grin
