I love Aubrey for a boy but worry it’s too commonly used as a girls name now.

Would you automatically assume girl? Do you think it matters?

I'd assume boy and I love it.

VenusClapTrap · 24/11/2019 15:50

Definitely boy’s name. And a really lovely one at that.

SemperIdem · 24/11/2019 22:27

The only Aubrey I know of in real life is a 2 year old boy.

I would always assume boy in the UK, would probably assume female in the USA. But they call their daughters James over there too so I’d probably reserve judgment on all male names there for that reason.

NameChangedNoImagination · 25/11/2019 17:29

Definitely boy.

ImportantWater · 25/11/2019 17:34

I would assume boy. But there are loads of names where you don't know either way until you talk to someone. I do a lot of work by email and in the last few months I have had Deri, Alex, Sam and Kim, all of whom I eventually found were the opposite to what I had assumed.

Little boy called Aubrey at the doctors today. Really suited him! He was a very cheeky happy boy

Aragog · 25/11/2019 18:03

I know a toddler girl called Aubrey.
It was the first time I had come across it.Its not overly used round here.

Think it is a unisex name.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 25/11/2019 20:11

OP maybe Audrey for a girl instead?

kjr2017 · 26/11/2019 00:55

My girls due in 4 weeks and calling her Aubree. I think it depends on how you promise it? We are emphasising the'bree' part

kjr2017 · 26/11/2019 00:56

*pronounce it

SemperIdem · 26/11/2019 08:14

There’s only one way to pronounce Aubrey?

sue51 · 26/11/2019 08:17

It's a boy's name and a very nice one too.

sammi0805 · 26/11/2019 08:26

My 4 month old little girl is called Aubrey... does that cancel out my university degree? 🤨

Leopardprintboots · 26/11/2019 09:34

@kjr2017 your child and your choice but why would you deliberately spell a name wrong? Your child will be endlessly correcting people, it seems a bit cruel to me. A bit chavy (I know I’m sorry for using that word)

misspiggy19 · 26/11/2019 09:37

Girls name to me. It is quite feminine

strawberry2017 · 26/11/2019 19:18
