Struggling to decide on a name for DD2.
We have a Sylvie so would love something that goes with that.

So far we like

Olive
Pearl
Mabel
Lydia
Beatrix
Etta

Any opinions on those names would be great and any suggestions would also be appreciated!

Thanks

I love Etta and Pearl! They share a kind of ‘Jazz Age’ glamour with Sylvie.

I think Lydia goes beautifully with Sylvie, too.

Really not keen on Mabel.

Beatrix is OK, but Trixie as a potential nickname is twee and would put me off.

puds11 · 19/11/2019 14:06

Like Etta but none of the others.

Kitty
Betty
Enid
Elsie

mumest1019 · 19/11/2019 14:07

Love Lydia and Olive they sound well with Sylvie. Not too keen on Beatrix or Etta and wouldn't use them with Sylvie. But if you like them then it will be lovely for your dd. Good luck

I think Mabel Olive sounds really good with Sylvie!

Thetimetravelerswife · 19/11/2019 15:39

I really like olive and pearl...

I prefer Beatrice to beatrix

Maybe continue the French theme with Sylvie

Like Elodie/amelie/ottilie

Margot

Etta is nice! Not sure about Pearl or Mabel. I agree with the poster above that Ottilie and Amelie or Aurelie would go well with Sylvie too but it's such a subjective thing.

diddlediddle · 19/11/2019 18:23

Sylvie and Pearl go beautifully!

tomatosoup4 · 19/11/2019 18:28

Sylvie and pearl are lovely

Jemimapuddleduk · 19/11/2019 18:40

Aaaw I adore Sylvie and it was on our list. Names that go with it in my opinion:
Iris
Joy
Connie
Pearl
Beatrix
Rosa
Margot
Robin

Jemimapuddleduk · 19/11/2019 18:40

Also love Gloria with sylvie but would be a brave choice and I guess quite marmite.

daisypond · 19/11/2019 18:50

I like Lydia and Beatrix. Not wild about the others. I don’t think they really go with Sylvie though. Delphine?

BonBon411 · 19/11/2019 19:02

Not keen on Mabel, but the others work.

KSxx · 19/11/2019 22:35

Edie?

Edie and Sylvie go lovely together both with the ie endings!

Chocmallows · 19/11/2019 22:39

Sylvie and Pearl go beautifully together, but I think Mabel may be an easier name to live with as Pearl is very unusual.

I think Sylvie and Clara would go well together too.

Thanks so much everyone for the opinions and suggestions!

I do also absolutely love Violet, Iris, Connie, Edie and Margot which have been suggested but have sisters, nieces or friends with those names so unfortunately can’t have those.

Clara and Daphne are also very pretty....my only concern with Daphne is if her nn would end up being Daffy? I do really like the name itself though.

I think Pearl and Olive are front runners and I do also really like Mabel but worry it’s too cutesy for an adult. Anyone know any Pearl, Olives or Mabels in real life?

I know a baby Olive, it's a nice name.
Mabel is way too cutesy for a grown woman for me.
Pearl is perfect! It has a similar vintage feel to Sylvie without being naff. I think it fits better than Olive but Olive is nice as a stand-alone name. I guess it is a bit similar to Olivia which is very popular and Pearl is more unusual, depends what you like.
