I'm having a baby boy and I love the name Sonny! The only thing that puts me off is that kids can be cruel and they will take the mick and refer to his name as in 'sunny day' etc. I'm probs just being over para but I don't want him to be made to hate his name. Does anyone on here have a little boy called sonny? And if so have they came across this or am I just putting himself off a lovely name just because

Ha! Sonny would sound absolutely fine at a graduation @kb16

I think 20-30 years ago it might have stood out and sounded a bit odd. It won’t now. Children called Fox, Woody, Rudy and Wolf at my child’s school. No one mentions the names being unusual.

Done to death round here.

It’s a nickname, not a proper name for a grown man.

Ridiculous not to call a child a name you love because it wouldn't sound right during graduation stucknoue.
Both my DSs have unusual names, and no-one gasped during their graduations! They both have really good jobs too, one is a member of staff at a large college, the other Technical lead developer at a large company. Maybe rather then being a negative on a CV, it might help to have a name with a bit of character..

Love sonny and considered it for my boy, but it would have been a nickname for another name ending in son as I didn’t think it sounded formal enough? I had Harrison, jenson, Bryson, Lawson on my list, all to be shorted to sonny 😌
