Struggling to decide between our top two! Any thoughts or similar alternatives?

Elijah

Elijah is a bit babyish and will get shortened, and Ezra, which I don't like, is a bit too trendy.

Juanbablo · 13/11/2019 10:25

Elijah. I also adore Jonah and Joel which are along a similar theme.

CaptainCautious · 13/11/2019 10:25

Ezra definitely

Elijah.

I’m not keen on either. These types of OT names for boys are very of the moment and will date-like Joshua- already 25 years old. There are much nicer biblical classic names.

LucileDuplessis · 16/11/2019 09:51

Ezra

WinterRose92 · 16/11/2019 10:04

Love them both but Ezra just tips it for me.

Lavenderblues · 16/11/2019 15:30

Both very religious sounding!

Blue19 · 16/11/2019 18:49

Thanks all! We’re religious so it’s a good association for us. Also don’t mind trendy/current so not a deal breaker either.

My DS has an Old Testament name and we're not religious at all, not that it matters if people think we are.

ilyjccs · 16/11/2019 19:21

Elijah

cookielove · 16/11/2019 19:32

We have an Elijah

We pronounce it Ee Lie jahh

Not gonna lie, we are not religious at all and had no clue it was biblical until we left hospital and someone mentioned it.

Seriously when he pronounces his name it is the cutest.

We don't call him Eli, although friends do, he doesn't respond to it though Grin

cookielove · 16/11/2019 19:33

Oh yeah so my vote is Elijah Smile

rabbitwoman · 16/11/2019 19:35

Gorgeous names! I know a few ezras at my skool but no elijah s, it seems still to be quite rare - my nephew is Elijah, I call him lige or ligus for short and sometime jah jah binks, so can you stand that!??

TheRobinIsBobbingAlong · 16/11/2019 19:45

I know someone with an Ezra who will be two soon. I love the name.
