This will be our 5th child. Our older four are all old enough to have VERY strong opinions on what their new sibling should be called, which is making this process much more difficult than it ever was before!! Slowly narrowing down our small list of possible baby names. Pretty sure which boy name I’m leaning towards, but still open to new suggestions for a girl if you can think of any which seem like they’d fit in with our choices.

Hector
Quentin
Silas

Magnus

Agatha
Marilla
Adelaide
Susannah
Miriam
Robin

Like Silas and love Miriam.

Our eldest two wanted to help name our number 4 - I just said that they would get to chose their children’s names one day and that this decision was ours! We used a name they hadn’t liked, but now he’s here and called it, they’ve got used to it.

Sorry but YOU get to name the baby, end of, and then you TELL your children what their sibling is called :) . Unless you want to ask them if you're going to get to name their babies when they have them... No? Ok then.

Boy: Love Magnus, like Silas, Hector ok at a push
Girl: Love Agatha, like Susannah, really properly dislike the others I'm afraid.

Oh and the y in Robin/Robyn is not a current trend. That's the way the girl name is spelled, much like Sydney/Sidney. Very traditional.

Chocolateandcarbs · 08/11/2019 12:24

Adelaide (Addie) and Miriam are lovely.

123Dancewithme · 08/11/2019 12:25

Hector or Magnus, and Susannah or Miriam

ImportantWater · 08/11/2019 12:26

Magnus and Robin (also prefer this spelling for a girl, and as you say there are plenty of female Robins), or Magnus and Marilla (Green Gables fan?)

Stollen23 · 08/11/2019 14:37

Quentin or Susannah are lovely. Classic, well known and easy spell and pronounce. But not too common.

The meaning of hector puts me off that one.

i also like the suggestion of Stella for a girl

Stollen23 · 08/11/2019 15:49

Just seen it's your 5th baby. Definitely Quentin! It's a great name but especially cool for a fifth born!

Good luck.

Boireannachlaidir · 08/11/2019 15:54

Magnus and Agatha but having read PP I agree Quentin would be good too! Susannah is also lovely.

MikeUniformMike · 08/11/2019 16:48

Magnus or Silas and Susannah.

Hector - makes me think of hectoring
Quentin - ok
Silas - Marner
Magnus - ok

Agatha - great aunt. No.
Marilla. Really dislike this. It’s like a mix between Aquila and Manila envelopes
Adelaide - ok
Susannah - 1970s and dull
Miriam - ok
Robin - my friend’s brother and another friend’s dad. I can’t see it as a girls name.
