NC'd only because I don't want DD's name linked with all my other MN posts.. sorry about the annoying numeric username.

Help me find a name for a brother or sister for Zoey? I have Lyra, maybe Ava so far. I'd love something similarly greek in origin. or Classical.

Yes zoey is pronounced like Joey or Zoë!
So many great suggestions above - I really especially like Zara!

.........
Yes and it should be spelled 'Zoe'. The Y does nothing for the name, in the same way, nowadays there are some people who spell 'Alicia', 'Aleesha'. Gross. What's the betting that the girl will eventually change her name to 'Zoe' and sign herself that way? I think she will.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2019 01:39

Bluerussian there's really no need to be rude about the OP's daughter's name, that's very bad form. Criticise potential names all you like, but not an existing child's name.

OP, I like Ava & Lyra from your list. Lara would be nice too, similar to Zara but not so alliterative.

Bluerussian · 08/11/2019 02:01

I didn't realise I was being rude, DramaAlpaca. I thought the op wanted opinions (maybe not quite about that though). However I won't say it again.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2019 02:13

Bluerussian I'm quite free with my opinions on potential names on here, if I hate it I'll say so. But if the OP's existing child has a name I dislike for whatever reason I wouldn't mention it. I actually agree with you that Zoe is my preferred spelling of this lovely name, but the OP of this thread doesn't need to hear that

Bluerussian · 08/11/2019 04:19

Yes, Drama, I hear you and take it on board. Not another comment from me about the spelling of that name - not my business anyway.

FridalovesDiego · 08/11/2019 04:58

I always think of Zoey with a y as a boy’s name, I guess it is after Franny and Zooey. I like it for a boy, (I know it was a nickname but it just sounds really cool)

Thanks for the lovely suggestions! Also really like Lara.
I’m not pregnant yet - it’s been a rough year with a couple of miscarriages but fingers crossed it happens soon.
Bit late to change my existing Zoey’s spelling, and I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion but tad harsh to criticise an existing name! We wanted it to be pronounced a certain way (Zoë or Zoey) and I’d have felt like a wanker adding an umlaut to hers just given our cultural and ethnic background.
