Our surname begins with a C, the same Company sound as Casper. Too much? Name too ghostly? Is Halloween messing with my hormones? Grin

DS is 10 and I just said we should have watched Casper tonight and he said “never heard of him” so you might be safe with this generation!

meandmyboyz · 31/10/2019 19:10

I say the film was years ago just started watching it on itv2 🤦‍♀️ I do however think Casper was one of the wise men also.

LazyDoll · 31/10/2019 19:14

Meandmyboyz you are correct. Chosen for one of my biblical trio of boy child’s not because of ghosts friendly or not. We were choosing between Caspian, Cassius and Casper. Have not once regretted our choice and he’s 10 now.

I love it! Once knew a very lovely cairn terrier called Casper. And if your surname starts with c sound, Casper Carter or Casper Cooper or whatever it is, it sounds like a superhero name!

Cbeebiesrehab · 31/10/2019 19:52

Caspar was one of the wise men.
Casper was the ghost.
Whichever spelling, I like it! Not as much as I like Caspian (which I know you said you don’t like) but I still think Caspar/er is a strong name and it will be unlikely he will come across many others.

Naomimi · 31/10/2019 20:11

Love it! My eldest DD was going to be Caspar if a boy, it’s a really cool, solid, strong name IMO.

DerbyshireGirly · 31/10/2019 21:25

Casper/Caspar is top on my boy's names list, I think it's lovely!

Candlecandle · 31/10/2019 22:54

I've always loved this name!!

Astronica · 01/11/2019 02:28

I really like Caspar, and whether I put it with a C surname depends on the overall flow. It could work well.

Insomniacscientist · 01/11/2019 02:43

Not a fan sorry. At the end of the day it’s you and your partner’s call, no other opinion matters.

ThisThat · 01/11/2019 02:46

Nay.. friendly ghost is all I think of

HelpImStressed · 01/11/2019 10:09

I LOVE Casper. I have two girls so unsure if I will ever be able to use it, but my ‘indulgence’ name is Casper Romeo Grin

lemonjam · 01/11/2019 11:28

I really really love it, my eldest would have been Caspar but dh didn’t like.
Never met any Caspers with a C in real life, but there are quite a few Eastern European Kacpers around where I am.

OldEvilOwl · 01/11/2019 11:39

No I don't like it

Whattodoabout · 01/11/2019 13:45

Quite like it. Alliterative names can be cool.

SemperIdem · 03/11/2019 02:21

Really like it. In terms of pop culture, there are far worse connotations for names that are now very popular. Scarlet/Charlotte “the harlot”, for example.

JenniferM1989 · 03/11/2019 02:31

I would go for Kaspar. Because the sound of the name Casper is lovely but if you spell it differently, people won't associate his name too much with that little friendly ghost. So Caspar, Kaspar or Kasper
